It was an operation on my foot, they had to cut the tendons on my toes, break the bones and reset and pinned them. It is a result of years of climbing and mountaineering in some harsh conditions, and it has taken its toll on the joints. Be back riding as soon as I can though.
Just a quick 45 miles for me today to Shobdon and back; the roads were very very wet with lots of closures for flooding in place and gravelly and the wind was a bit lively, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am extremely glad that I no longer have the Metzelers on the Hyper though .
About 50 miles today to Bringsty Vintage Cafe and back, the roads were very wet and dirty again as it had rained quite a lot earlier on, so I took the already dirty Hyperstrada out!
Just gave in to temptation and bought the Unit Garage low exhaust silencer for the R9T. I put one on Tangerine Dream and loved it, and it really cleans up the back end of the bike as well as sounding superb. On Tangerine Dream...
Managed to get out in the sun, yesterday, although I wouldn't describe it as warm! The bike runs beautifully, albeit a little snatchy at low revs - thinking that I may get it remapped once the UG end can has been fitted. I'm also edging towards taking the Healtech switchable servo eliminator off the bike... the UG will be loud enough that I'm not concerned about whether the flapper valve is open or closed and, in any event, I don't think the eliminator's working as it should (only two of the three settings seem to have any impact on the valve).
My next project. It’s a 1978 Honda CT90, or “Trail 90.” Right now the plan is to simply clean it up, retain most of the original patina, and make it a reliable runner. IMG_9750.HEIC by Marco Wikstrom, on Flickr IMG_9748.HEIC by Marco Wikstrom, on Flickr
Judging by them pictures, you do like a challenge. Have fun and keep the pictures coming with your progress.
It has compression, so hopefully won’t need a top end, but time will tell. As long as there’s nothing wrong with the gearbox and the rest of the engine it should be pretty straightforward.
It's my last rest day before I go back to work tomorrow, so we took advantage of the sun and went to the Baffle Haus on the Mutistrada and Hyperstrada.....quite a few other people had had the same idea and we even got into the festive spirit by wearing Christmas jumpers .
The gearboxes are pretty straightforward to play with. I changed a gearbox mainshaft on a C90 (uk) which is a similar engine when I was 14 after busting 1st gear
It seems very simple compared to the jets I used to fix decades ago in the Air Force. Only capability I don’t have here at home is a machine shop.
So Christmas day dawned and with the MiL in a home we did a flying visit via Seaways for breakfast. It's in the none Triumph bit as we went by car and was there early, 08.30 with only x2 bikes in the carpark, but more upon our leaving. Anyone else on here go? A nice idea that the cafe opened up for half a day and gave people the option.
What was the cause of the hole in the piston, lean mixture? Without resolving that then you are just going around in circles. I once had a Honda H100 as a skint 17 year old apprentice and I couldn't afford a new head gasket....... yep, a hole in the piston was the end result
