Triumph Speedtwin 1200 Battery

Is the standard battery in a 2024 1200 Triumph lithium or AGM?

It's a standard lead-acid battery, not lithium or AGM. Most new Triumphs come with a Yuasa YTZ14S.

 

Might be worth just having a look to see what markings are on yours, that way you'll know for sure

 

YTZ14S is an AGM battery.

 

Can't really see without taking it out, all I can see is that it says electrolyte filled. Whether it is AGM or Lead Acid shouldn't make any difference I presume to me using my 30 year old Optimate over winter? Was just a bit worried it was lithium as have seen some facebook posts state it is and wondered if that was why the 1st battery died after 1 year on a new bike and maybe my Optimate had damaged it.

AGM is just a type of spill proof lead acid battery.

 

My owners manual sez it is AGM. Took a look at mine in a 2023 Bonne T120 but it is so buried I can only see the top - no fill ports.

 

Thanks, pretty sure it is AGM just saw some Facebook Speedtwin groups where some people stated it was lithium. Was pretty sure that wasn't the case but just wanted to check. Bought the bike in 2024 and had a new battery under warranty on it's first yearly service. Don't use it much over winter but do put it on an Optimate trickle charger.

Not aware that any maker used the lithium batteries. And Lithium does need a pedicular charger.
