Hello, as the title suggests I am a returning rider. After 40 years away, I have decided to have one last go at riding. I have just done my CBT for the first time (it didn’t exist when I first learned to ride). I took it on advice from the local Triumph dealer and really enjoyed the day. I have now acquired a Triumph Speed Twin 900 and am looking forward to a nice dry day to try it out. My previous bike was a Honda CX500 so weight wise the Triumph doesn’t feel that different. Torque and power are a different matter so I shall be taking things steady for quite some time I guess.
ay ay@skipper Welcome to the family. You seem to have a plan and a good one taking it easy and one day at a time. You probably already know that the Bonnie responds a bit quicker to the throttle thaan the CX and is a nicer feel riding. Good luck and keep talking to us. If you get a chance do tap the upload a file button and show us all the new bike.
Good morning, Helmut, Boothman, Eldon, Joe and Bikerman. Thank you all for your warm welcome. With all this rain I’ve only managed to get out once this week. Maybe it’s my fault for putting the bike in rain mode. Anyway, as soon as the weather improves I’ll be out again. Loving the experience of getting back on two wheels. Picture uploaded.
Hi all, in answer to the question by a couple of you, I’m from Lincolnshire. I can’t find out how to edit my location on the profile page which has me down as just UK.
Good choice of bike. I bought the same model earlier this year and really happy with it. Let me know how you get on with yours once you get a chance to put some miles on it.
Hi and welcome! That's a really nice looking bike to return to two wheels on....if you reckon this rain's your fault, please take it out of rain mode .
Welcome from New Jersey! Love the new ride! It should be agile and fun on the roads on Lincolnshire! When time and temperature permit, will you take it further afield? I loved the Lake District when I lived there (Hull) some years ago.
Welcome to the forum. Many very knowledgeable people on here so you just need to ask. Lovely bike the 900. I had a clutch of my mate’s last year when we went to Wales. So easy to ride. I too had a break in bike riding but not lasting quite as long as yours. Just assume every other road user with more wheels than you have are out to kill you and you’ll be ok. Keep safe.
@Skipper Thanks for sharing the picture. Its another Black beauty and will get a few looks here in the forum as black seems to be a favourite
