The only Amazonas I’ve heard of and only ever seen one are those huge Brazilian things with the VW engines. Saw one at the TT one year. https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Custom/amazonas_1600.htm
Yes, I've been off in the past using mx knobblies on the road A Suzuki rmx did a lovely pirouett accelerating from a T junction On one memorable close shave, I was on a kdx 200 with my mate Peter also on a kdx 200 close behind. We came over a brow on tarmac into a right hand bend, I thought he's not getting past me down here ...... mega feet up powerslide but luckily kept it pinned resulting in it coming back into line ... not sure whether from luck or sheer stupidity but got away with it We pulled up further down the road and Peter said "go back and do that again, it looked fantastic?" I said, " not a chance!" And we both burst out laughing
I did a solo ride this afternoon on Low Rider ST under clear blue skies and lovely temps in the low 80's. I was working on a report for work and Steve said, "You should not be working on a Saturday afternoon!" So I stopped. Before you know it I was out the door and down the road. I rode over to our local Harley-Dealership and looked at and touched everything then got back down to business and back on the road. In my 50 miles today I rode through three towns--Tucson, Marana, and Oro Valley. Marana and Oro Valley are basically suburbs of Tucson. Marana is to the far west of Tucson and Oro Valley is more to the northwest. I recalled taking a photo of my Speed Triple in front of this mural so thought I'd stop and do the same with my Low Rider ST.
A 90 mile loop on the Fireblade for me today, calling in at the Baffle Haus. I didn't get rained on but the roads are pretty wet and muddy at present, so I didn't use very much of my new tyres!
It's worth it, the area's great for a mini break too. Lots of campsites and even a B&B in a lovely location run by bikers with a secure garage to keep bikes safe.
I have never stayed as it's pretty close to us, but have heard it's very good https://www.riverbankbedandbreakfast.com/
It's a nice problem to have! If you don't know the area and do visit, give me a shout if you want any routes. I know lots of good ones.
As it was bright and sunny yesterday, I got out on the Tuono and went up to Whitby with a friend on his Ducati. I'd forgotten its the Goth weekend there this coming weekend, so the place was already filling up with people in all sorts of weird and wonderful costumes.I was planning one last ride on it today before Sorning it and consigning it to the garage 'til Spring, but the weather today has other ideas, so yesterday was my last ride on it of 2025.
Yeah, I got mine washed and dried before the rain started ready for polish, lubrication and hibernation! Tea break now though.
Today Helmut and I went out on the Multistrada and Fireblade and went to HR4K, Baffle Haus and Honey Cafe (the last stop just to get out of the rain) which was 95 miles. The weather started off quite nice and then rained, rained some more, became a biblical downpour flash flooding the roads and then relented and turned back into just rain. Kit and people now drying out and the bikes are in need of a really good clean .
An offroad day today as it started off raining, and that just adds to the fun, right? I can hit more of these with this bike than I can a shotgun two today, note the brake caliper after it flew straight into it as I was doing 50 mph. A bit of Father and Son bonding time
Well that bent the chain Ummm.... so to save the day, a bit of judicious operation of an adjustable spanner was needed with the sprocket acting as a clamp for the other section success and on our way. Hey get off, yours is the other one
So the little lad now declares he's just started on reserve Ok not to worry as I have at least 20 litres onboard More lanes followed, well not that many more as the tank run dry after only 7 miles of reserve Now all we need to do is to take a bit out of that one, mix in a bit of 2 stroke and stick it in that one sounds easy......
