Hi. After 16 years on my Sprint ST 1050 ABS I've bought a Tiger Sport 800 (2025). A good ride. Has anyone with this model experienced the engine stopping for no apparent reason. Always when changing 1st to 2nd gear at about 10 to 15 mph? Triumph testing shows no faults. Confused dot com!. Bill Lowe

I have an intermittent issue with my 2021 Street Triple cutting out when I am slowing down and on a closed throttle or riding with very gentle throttle to a junction etc. Quite a few other owners online have said that they experience the same as do a few other owners of other Triumph models. Triumph testing has shown no faults on mine and other owners who have contacted Triumph have said that the official line is that this does not happen. Some dealers have apparently said that they know this is an issue that is reported fairly often; mine denied any knowledge. I appreciate that your issue is speeding up - however it is still the engine cutting for no reason. I use the clutch from 1st to 2nd gear but if you are using your quickshifter, could there be an issue with that maybe?

I get mine serviced independently now and he has tried a few things to see if it makes any difference but it does not.

I have not thought about this for a while actually as it has only happened once this year I think, however since new it seemed to happen quite a few times in a short period of time, then would not happen for a while and then start to happen again. As the bike gets older, it seems to be happening less and less frequently, but happened quite often for the first few years.

Re engine stopping for no reason, I don't use the quick shifter from 1st to 2nd. Triumph Solent have tried twice to trace a fault, diagnostic, but with no result. They are questioning my riding habits?? How can 'rider input' cause the engine to stop?

There is a campaign or recall on the 660/800 triple on the MAP sensor tube which can cause stalling, among other symptoms (high fuel consumption, rough or uneven idle).

Check to see if your bike has an open recall. Even if it doesn’t check to see the MAP sensor tube is the “three path” corrected part. Google helps with this.

Everything I can find has the issues occurring when riding slowly or downshifting, seems unusual when accelerating. That said, multiple Triumph models do seem to experience issues with the engine cutting.
