The Hospital thread was getting a little long so here is what has and is happening:-

Re - the Police station summons well the visit never happened as the Police phoned and cancelled it due to the fact that they had not booked a translator and yes this is required by law they actually phoned as I was leaving home to get to the meeting my advocate (Lawyer) was already half way to the Police station he lives and works in the city of Ruse which is about 70km from Polski Trambesh where the police station is my mobile had more calls to it that morning than it has had all month so visit has been rearranged for next week now. Had to laugh about it and brought to mind my days as a kid watching the "Keystone Cops" on the TV ................... yes my age is showing.

Now on the Tuesday received a letter from the Police about the "accident" and explaining bit more what is going on and telling me who the truck driver is we had to use translation on it because of course it's in Bulgarian we scanned it and emailed it the advocate so he has the up to date information but as a result of this I am not quite so worried about the Police actions now.

Last Monday was Hospital check up and removal of stiches from operation sites and have been given a timetable for follow ups and when to go see local Doctor and get form for more follow up x-rays and specialist for rehabilitation therapy ............................. not sure am looking forwards to that.

Meanwhile the weather has taken a turn for the worse there have been snowfalls to the west of the country and then torrential rainfall over most of the country that has caused serious flooding and severe damage to the south east and east costal areas and I mean it's washed away roads and buildings cars being swept away like dinkey toys luckily where we live it's not been affected much but ti's certainly no weather for riding a motorcycle even if I cold manage the weight of it right now!

This evening I did start looking at the motorcycle shop website where I bought my helmet, gloves and tyres for the Ducati they heavily feature LS2 helmets which is the make that I have and as some of you may recall I was not that happy with it due to the amount of wind noise it generated on the naked Monster on the Trophy with the screen it was much quieter so am thinking of trying a different make possibly Nolan and taking a look at their N80-8 Classic which cost a fair bit more than my LS2 did about 2 1/2 times more in fact. Also looked on ebay and saw the make HJC that I know nothing about but their C10 helmet caught my eye so need to do a bit of research on them well I have the time as realistically it will be months before am riding again what with the bad weather and my arm as it is we are going to order paint so that the scratches on the fairing and the replacement indicator can be sprayed correctly this can be carried out in the "down time".

Looks like your helmet did it's job!
My mate has a few HJC helmets and is very happy with them.

Does look like the helmet did its job well.worth every penny.
Glad that you had a full face one on & not an open face one.
Hope all goes well with the police and wish you a speedy return to normality.
Take care & all the best.

Until my return to riding last year when I bought the Ducati 620ie I had never heard of LS2 as a manufacturer when looking for a helmet it was a shock to find that makers that I knew were no longer around and there were all these new names that I knew nothing about. The place I went to stocked a lot of LS2 and I selected the Rapid 11 full face something that was proven to be a bit of a mistake as it really hurt my ears after wearing it for a while and it was so noisy the wind screeching was darned near deafening. Had been considering getting another helmet hopefully one that was more comfortable and much quieter. I cannot remember my Centurion Firebird full face being noisy like this bu Centurion it seem no longer exist which is a pity.

I cannot fault how the LS2 protected me and on the Trophy th screen cuts the wind noise a lot with the visor open however close it and it's pretty noisy again.

Thank you .................The problem that I am finding with HJC helmets is finding somewhere that sells them as I really want to try them on before buying. Tried using their website dealer locater and it takes me to Italy which is not much use to me seeing as how I am in Bulgaria if I was still in the UK it would be no problem but I am not. Shipping one from the UK and then finding it's not the correct fit and having to return it would double the cost of the helmet as shipping costs seem to have really taking a hike in price.

Recovery is going pretty well it's just taking time and age is not helping things just don't mend as fast as they used too.

Fit is so important and really should outweigh any other desires or needs.
Buying online is just not doable unless buying a previously tried on item.

I've just bought a new Arai and so wanted to buy a Shoei as I once had for the better/easier visor swap, but head fit overuled that.

Get well soon and use the time available for research and dreams of your next purchases ;)

I can't comment on only what I've heard about them and it's all been good especially with the flip front LS2 with the locking chin guard also to the rear the Irish crew I was at the rally with end of September practically all of them were wearing these helmets and reason being a friend of theirs had quite a serious spill and it was put down to the helmet actually saving his life I have a great number of helmets and I do have a HJC i90 which I bought due to a few reviews recommended them for glasses wearers but this helmet is like your LS2 and is noisier with the visor fully closed I don't know if it's because it is a flip front or not the best helmets I've got for fit and noise reduction is my shark lids as for uncomfortable fit I've a nitro I've worn once and it's the only time I will wear it

Just had a look at Billy's and have book marked it some really useful information on there and I'm pleased to say that more than one of my helmets are listed and scored very well

Actually had a look and my LS2 Rapid 11 scored quite well just a shame it was so noisy and hurt my lugholes! Will have to take a trip into the city and try a few helmets on and see if I can find one that suits in my budget range.

Even if it then means ordering online it's not as if am in a rush now is it!

I mentioned head shapes in a post about wearing glasses - it might help in finding a comfortable helmet.....

"Matching the helmet to your head shape helps get a good close fit too - some suit round heads better, some suit oval heads, and some long oval heads! Schubert I think are usually best for round heads, my LS2 is best for oval heads as are Shoei. So I've read anyway."

Will have to get the tape measure out and see what shape I am.

Meanwhile it's a nice day here ........................ perfect for a ride out :confounded: nephew is out so decided to have a look at the Ducati and remove what broken bits I can and even if I say so myself I did quite well

Going to need help to get the rear brake cylinder off that broken bracket.

    IMG_20251012_133721_hdr.jpg

Knew the bike had been dropped or something back in the US and that's how it ended up in an Insurance Auction where it was brought by a Bulgarian and shipped here not sure where the repairs were done but it looks like they just filled the tank dent and of course the switch cluster hit that same spot again.

    IMG_20251012_133757.jpg

This damage to the top yoke (triple tree) is slightly concerning if I was able to rebuild the bike would have to consider replacing it.

Now here is a list of parts that would need replacing for a rebuild/repair:-

    Speedo & Tacho
    ECU/immobilser
    Ignition switch
    Headlight+ mounting hardware
    indicators
Front brake master cylinder/resevoir complete with lever
    Front brake hydraulic line
    R/H mirror
    Throttle twist grip assy
    Gear lever
    Rings for mounting front mudguard
    Plastic side trims
    Rear plastic duck bill
R/H alloy footrest mount exhaust support
Rear brake lever ? (might be able to straighten this)
    Handlebars.

Fuel tank would need repair or replacement that is if we could find one. I understand that the clocks (speedo/Tacho) are paired with the ignition and ECU so need to be replaced as a set which adds to the cost an bearing in min that I had the Ducati listed for sale and had no takers rebuild just to sell would be a loss maker so breaking for parts is an obvious option although I do find the idea of rebuilding into a custom enticing. Also am finding history is sort of repeating itself as back in 83 when they removed the plaster from both arms (broke both wrists in a motorcycle collision with a truck) a good friend helped be rebuild the bike which I then rode to my hospital appointments for physio. I won't be riding to my appointments this time as simply cannot manage the weight of the Triumph.

Going on past experience, if that was my bike with that sort of damage and repair list, no matter how long I’d owned or loved it I’d sell what bits I could and bin the rest.
If it’s an insurance job, then maybe but DIY rebuild costs can quickly spiral to a point way above the bikes value. JMO

    I'd agree with @Pegscraper .

When my mate crashed his 675r I bought the scrap as being there on the day of the crash I knew what it had suffered.

Fast forward a few weeks after stripping the obvious bits off as you've done here, I hadn't anticipated a bent front wheel spindle and the legs slightly bent to one side, due to the wheel slapping the ground sideways on

Costs spiral, and then you are into a can of worms

As yet there has been no mention of insurance and we will see the Police report until Wednesday afternoon providing they do not postpone it again and until this and getting advice from out advocate am not even sure how they deal with here in Bulgaria.

We have had a quick look at used parts prices and an engine is usually listed for 900-1200 euro mine has done less than 11,000 miles. What with the price of used Ducati Monster tanks especially early steel ones seem very scarce so getting it repaired and painted then selling may be worthwhile.

If it has suffered so much damage and when structural items are damaged it all needs replacing to be safe as for the tank have you not noticed you are getting so much less mileage to a tank

How could I noticed? It was like this when I bought it so in my ownership it has always had the reduced capacity. Plus with my gentle riding I was getting around 70mpg.then when I started using more of the performance was still getting 50mpg+.
