My incoming speed triple 1200rs is not new but on the brief test ride[still at running in mileage] it was still enough to forgive it anything,i am looking forward to it that much.Even after what happened today,my 2 bikes are on a multibike policy taking advantage of max no claims,i wanted to take off the 1050 and replace it with the 1200,No would not insure it unless i paid an additional £773,so had to leave my Ktm on there on it's own,i even had to pay an EXTRA £20 to do that. Then take out a separate policy with no no claims for the triumph For £600 don't you just love insurance companies who make things up as they go along, they said the bike was worth too much, god knows how you go about insuring a ducati with a £30 grand value.

NCB is tied to a policy, not necessarily a particular machine which is one drawback of a multi bike policy.
I have two bikes on a multi bike and a third bike on it’s own policy. The premium on a MBP is based on (among other things) the value of the most expensive bike. My ZZR used to be the “main” bike on my MBP until I bought a new Triumph twin which then became the main and most valuable machine. The ZZR would undoubtedly cost way more to repair in the event of, even a relatively minor spill but stands more chance of being written off because of this as its market value is less.

    Insurance = legalised robbery.

Compulsory to have yet often a rip off, someone somewhere is having a laugh.

I've got a multi policy with Hastings and I've got that problem as multi only means two now I don't know if it's a location thing the age of the bike I want to insure or my actual age and that my original licence was made of stone but my third bike as I can't use my no claims is coming in at an extortionate £52 fully comprehensive for a 900 thunderbird :D

I tried to add my FE570 onto the two bike policy last year and it came in at over £100, way more than insuring it separately on its own and it’s the least valuable bike in the garage! When I asked why it was so expensive the advisor threw me some cobblers about it’s added theft potential being a dirt bike.

Insurance companies have always had us by the short and curlies when I started my journey into the world of petrol propulsion my first premium was nearly the cost of the car I bought and my first bike a brand new yamaha dt 80 mx £375 on the road my parents wouldn't let me have anything bigger and as they went guarantor there was little else i could do being in college without my own income
But back to the Insurance to start with it was my age that would improve when I reached 21 then that was changed to 25 when I got to 21 then at 25 the goal posts yet again we're moved to 30 but also they threw in the troubles in Ireland and thefts the other side of the country which never affected my position i still had all the same answers for the questions asked locked in a garage at home address etc,etc they will always have a clause that they can call upon to keep our policies on the rise and if you do need to claim well if your circumstances have deviated a fraction from the initial answers given on taking out the policy well Sorry we can't pay your claim you told us there was no modifications made to the bike well I'm sorry you have added a top box or grab rail you get the idea
Now it's the Ukraine or some other countries misfortune that is the cause of the increase to your policy.
But they can't explain why the same companies can not insure my brother in Ireland that he used here in UK but things over there or any where else in the world affects our policies go figure.
    Well that's today's rant over.
    Happy riding every one :D

As Eldon says, legalised robbery. Sold my T120 in April, dual bike policy. Contacted insurance to cancel
said T120, Cancellation charge, new policy charge for GT Aragon, bearing in mind the policy is only
6 weeks old....£7 refund. Bonnie 66-865 fully comp with recovery/breakdown £130. Downside of that
policy, the Broker wanted pics of Bonnie in garage, and view of house no., showing garage.
Never been asked for that info in the years i have been biking.
AS for road tax, don,t get me going on that one.

Hi Mark, Peter Best insurance services. Best price on comparison site.
Breakdown/Recovery worked out to £1 a week, a must have IMO.

Well I'm with RAC T I have for years and it covers me for any vehicle I'm driving or even in as a passenger £11 a month but break that down to two cars ( both automatic so can't tow anyway) three bikes and a boat that I could be towing while unfortunately suffering a breakdown so I'll agree with you in the sense of a must have I'll be honest I don't think I've heard of Peter Best never came up for me on any comparison site I used mcn comparison for the Thunderbird never used them before but there was a free draw when you get a quote for a new speed triple so you just have to give it a go Bennetts Hastings direct and bikesure always come up tops for me I don't go on over 50's specific sites though because that doesn't always work in our favour I'm sure they think because of the age were either not tech savvy or we have more disposable income to throw at them saying that with the providers more so targeting over 50's I have used Saga a few times because they have been the cheapest at the time and not just for the initial year infact the Mrs is on her third consecutive year with them because that has been the case surprisingly so

I don't know if you are a member of the TOMMC. For £30 per year membership you also get a monthly magazine. There are insurance companies advertising there that offer discounts for members.

I am 60. Was out with some mates couple of days ago and pulled into a car park FULL of bikers. Think I was the youngest person there. It's no wonder young people aren't getting into biking. The insurance alone puts them off

When insurance renewal time is due I have, in the past, phoned brokers rather than use search sites. I've done this because with owning 4 bikes and all the permutations that go with each one, such as widely different ages, values, mileage, I've just found it easier.
However I find it very irritating that the quote they finally reveal after much prevaricating about the bush and other unnecessary bollox, is only valid for the length of that phone call. If you wish to think about it, or phone around for a comparison, and decide to call back later (even within the hour) the quote will have changed. Ridiculous.

At the moment I use Bikesure. My renewal is about 3 weeks after the NEC bike show. I get the usual renewal quote. Bikesure have a big stand at the show, so I sit down face-to-face with a real, live person and every time they undercut their original quote. There's also a 10% MAG membership discount. Up to now they've knocked off between £45 and £75.

Good luck with the mooring. Used Rhos slip years ago till they stopped us parking. So we used Beaumaris.
That was when they were constructing Conway tunnel.

Not good obviously not prepared fortunately I haven't had to call on them as yet but as soon as you drop the cover is when it's needed I do cut down the likelihood of needing them by before every outing I give the bike a good look over that is probably why I clean it before and after a ride
