@sprintdave That's true. Unless you can find someone who retains the old software you have big headaches.

@ajc400 I do myself think they put to much on bikes. Some are good and some you never use. Nice and simple i think would suffice.

I like to get to know my bike so took the tank off the other day to see what was underneath (new Speed Twin 900). Didn't expect to see much but it was jam packed with wiring and stuff. The amount of wiring on a bike now is frightening.

Well my first proper motorcycle was bought in a deal made at a friends stage night a friend of theirs was attended Uni in the Midlands we lived down south of London over drinks he informed me that he had a 1966 Norton Jubilee 250cc in bits, 250cc was the biggest we were allowed at 17 yeas old, that I could have for £10 he would bring is down in the boot (trunk) of his car it would take a couple of trips over a few weeks so the deal was struck. Turned out the engine had been butchered but we found one advertised in a local paper for £20 it was a Pre 64 engine so the lower rear mount was different ( different gear box) but it went into the frame. The tank was leaking due to a brass bush for the tank badge screws had been pulled out luckily a dealer in London was having a bit of a clear out and I picked up a brand new only in primer tank for £3. It was not the best looking bike but I was proud of it and took me everywhere. Oh I fitted a pair of reverse cone megas (exhaust) on it and boy was it loud I loved it.

It's been a couple of weeks Joe and I noticed you haven't mentioned swapping the bike yet is this a good sign or you just been to busy to call in at your nearest Triumph dealer as yet :p

@Mark TGR9 No i have been to my favourite dealer alright. But for all the wrong reasons. I sprung a radiator leak where it was leaking from the right throttle side seal. I then waited two days for RAC to pick up the bike. Bulldog tested and tested the rad but could not locate the leak as like my self it seemed to trickle slowly. But as it was there and the rad was stained from it and had lost a third of its water they have agreed to replace the rad. So its sitting in the dealers waiting for medical care. For the first time in all these years i decided one bike is enough and this happens. Now my garage is empty the sun shines and i sit here scratching my back side. Yes i am sorely tempted to get another bike with the 660 but just thinking of it till after Christmas. Unless something nice pops up. I do fancy an old two stroke perhaps. So no still happy with the 660 as only a couple of hundred miles on it. But peeved i let my two Bonnies go. And thanks for asking.

Sad to hear this Joe. As far as getting work done on older bikes, Fowlers in Bristol have a stated policy of not working on bikes that are 10 years old. This includes any bikes they have carried out every service from new. Its probably a universal policy from all dealers i suspect. It seems that you are better off giving a local mechanic your business from new if you get that sort of back up.

Well they have to force folks to buy new machines after all not everyone is fooled into spending small fortunes on newer ones or even new ones. As I have not heard anything back from the Triumph dealer one can only assume that as my T300 Trophy 900 is nearly 30 years old they probably do not have anyone that can do it after all unless they can plug a puter in that tells them what to do they're stumped.

Went to the bike shop in VT and asked them rode the Triumph there and asked about valve clearance check/adjust and fork oil service they say they are booked up until at least October 10th I asked them as last year they had a fairly late model Tiger for sale there so thought they might be able to do some servicing on it. Valves of course are bucket and shim so hoping they have shims on hand and of course a way to support the bike while doing fork oil change.

Sorry to hear that your new bike being out of action so soon into your relationship making it harder to bond or at least get that first service done so the throttle can get twisted (a lot ) more wrong time of year to be without when weather still allows riding without all the extra layers. There are bargains to be had out there if the itch becomes too much i mean I got the Thunderbird for £1550 Granted it needs a few jobs to get it to a standard I'm happy with but something like this would still leave you the majority of your rainy day money but saying that it rains so much in this country it won't be long before that rainy day money finds another purpose
Go on you know you want to :imp:

@Regit nogara yes Bulldog are exceptional in this case and have already ordered a rad under warranty. Just the wait now. And look at the weather. But it really doesn't surprise me if you look at the skimpy guard Triumph have put on there. I just got a rad cover and dropped it of today like they requested, I also got the fender extender on order. So pray i should be better protected.

@Mark TGR9 Yes mate. Not as sorry as i am with the pleasant weather. I have a friend who has promised he will loan me one of his MZ'S to run around on. So it lets me test a two stroke at least.

@learningtofly Yes mate it is a blow for the mind. As @Mark TGR9 has said it's taken the shine out of having a new bike.

@Boothman So do i. But Bulldog have to order and wait for the new Rad. I don't know if this will be Triumph stock item or do they have to order one. Still i just have to wait.
