Has anyone on here actually bought one? I've found a few references, using the search button, but no-one admits to having shelled out the readies for the new(ish) Daytona 660.

I came across it on the Triumph stand at the NEC show last November and really liked it. I dismissed the idea of owning one because I have 4 bikes and one of them is a 2001 CBR600FS (amazing condition, only 2200 miles). As we know the CBR600 does just about everything well, it's a great all-rounder, but I'm wondering if I'll enjoy the Daytona more. I realise no-one can can tell me whether I will or not but I'm looking for opinions from owners of the 660. Anyone?

I'll be picking mine up on the 8th, but it is my first bike, so I won't have much of a frame of reference for you on it.

You get yours the day before I get mine. I pick it up on May 9th from Youles in Manchester.

I collected the Daytona 660 a week ago and have clocked up around 150 miles, at least I think I have because the odometer doesn't show on the screen and I haven't worked out how to find it!. And I like it. Another 450 miles to complete the running-in period before I can really test the engine (why do we have to run-in bikes but not cars?) and comment on handling etc, but the riding position is nowhere near as extreme as my two Hondas (RVF 400 & CBR400), in fact it feels very relaxed with the relatively high bars.

There was a £500-off deal last month. Plus it came with a quick shifter. I got the frame protector kit included in the deal and a good discount on the low seat option. Already ordered a tail tidy from Evotech to sort that sticky-out rear end. Other bits will follow.

Still running this in. 300 miles to go. Something that bothered me right from the start was the flashing tachometer. After a while I realised that the flashing happened when the revs past 4000rpm. Obviously a warning to ease off. This stopped when I clocked up the first 100 miles. But then it moved up the rev range to 5000rpm.
I can see the point of course but it's a little disconcerting when you nervously ride off on a new bike only to see the tacho start flashing a couple of miles down the road. My first thought was 'what have I done wrong?!'
I wasn't warned about this at the shop. When the Youles salesman phoned a couple of days later (to see how I was getting on) I said it would have been useful to know in advance, he said he didn't know anything about it.

Having ploughed through the on-line-only owners manual (all 300 pages!), there is no mention of it there either. Very strange.

Anyone else experience something similar with their new Triumph?

As a follow up to my reference of the non-appearance of the odometer, it seems it only shows for a few moments when the ignition is switched on. There is no way to have it showing permanently on the screen. Bizarre.

Thought I'd post a pic of the Daytona.

    IMG_8201.jpeg

Still not run in yet! I've booked in at Youles for its first service anyway because they are full up as far as servicing goes for the next month or so. As it's only a short, one-and-a-bit-hours, service they squeezed it in on August 3rd. My Bonneville is due it's 10,000 service and the first time slot I could get was September 5th.
I'm holding off making changes to the bike until after the first service but I've already bought an Evotech tail tidy to replace that ridiculously long thing hanging out the back.
I'm also in two minds about the mirrors. Somehow they still look wrong to me, even after 2 months of ownership. I've been looking at bar-ends but the only 660-specific ones are from Evotech and they're over £100..EACH! I've had experience with generic bar-end mirrors in the past, which usually end up being a bit of a bodged job and run the risk of disappearing into the countryside as you crash along Englands war torn roads.

The short, underslung exhaust is relatively unobtrusive compared to some of the dustbin sized Euro 5 compliant abominations many modern bikes are burdened with. However, I have looked at possible replacements. The official swop is with an Akrapovic system but at around £1200 it's top dollar. Also I prefer the more subtle look of systems from SC Project (Italian), Racefit (UK) and AR Racing. Maybe they'll be at the NEC show in November and we can do a show discount deal.

Btw, I normally go for a helmet that makes some attempt to match the bike. However in this case I went for the opposite and finally bought a Rossi rep. This is his Soleluna design from 2017 (or 2015?). No longer available but I found 2 in the UK in my size (M). That leaves only one out there!

Is that Manchester or Blackburn @beerkat ?
Was thinking of taking my Speedy to Blackburn at beginning of September.

It's Manchester. My brother's down south and has got a similar wait with his Bonneville, so I'd get in quick if I was you.

So I'm about 2500kms deep on mine so far. Picked it up from first service and what a difference in power after that. I installed frame sliders, a tail tidy, and am waiting for a puig windshield to arrive. I want some adjustability in my levers and I hate the stock mirror location so I'll be doing bar end mirrors in the off-season. When it comes time for an exhaust I've decided on a csracing unit.

At last, you're back GT4RC. Looks like you and I are the only owners of a Daytona 660 on the forum, so we're pretty unique.
    A few questions about yours..
What make is the tail tidy? Mine is Evotech. You probably know about the Evotech parts.
Interesting that you agree with me about the mirrors, the salesman at the Triumph shop said I was the first person to mention it. Any thoughts about replacements?
Same with the levers. Evotech do those as well, in case you didn't know.

I haven't checked out the CSRacing exhaust. Is this a US company? I'll give them a google.

Keep me posted of any changes!

Just checked out CS Racing. Their gear is made in Brazil. I had a look at the Daytona system. As I would expect it's freer flowing and lighter, so gives useful power gains. It sounds good as well. It's also reasonably priced compared to Akrapovic or Arrow. However shipping to the UK and import duty pushes it into the same league. The biggest downside for me is the aesthetics. It appears very similar to the OE exhaust, which is fine if you're happy with that look. I want something along the lines of the SC Project or AR Racing system but atm neither produce one!

Wow they are not very popular at all hey?

I decided on csracing because it does not require a flash, and police in my area have a hard-on for aftermarket exhaust on bikes. That and being that it fits in the oem location I'm not worried of it burning a passenger.

I have an evotech tail tidy. I'm planning on doing evotech mirrors and levers too. I also plan to source some euro spec sequential signals, as the usdm ones look terrible by comparison.

My mirrors actually get pushed back from the wind at anything over about 160kmh. It is super irritating. I had them torqued further at my first service but I'm going to change them anyways.

I'm also on the lookout for a cruise control. Ive read that the newest trident 660 has it, but not the daytona. I'm hoping someone comes up with a solution for our bikes.

I got mine a couple of months back and got the first service done. Posting the pic here, I find the riding posture not aggressive and quite comfortable for log rides. It has good torque spread and the rear suspension is sprung a bit soft which is useful for us since we don't have many good roads, it easily soaks up the bumps. I've got the shift assist installed and it works like a charm, and I think that's something really needed to get the best out of this beautiful bike.
The only thing for me is that currently the only luggage system available for this is from Ventura which is a bit expensive considering that I have to actually ship it to India.

SW-Motech has panniers for this bike. I purchased their 50L cargobag and one of their tank bags as well. I plan to take the bike on a 950 km each way trip next week, I'll take some pics and put them up.

I also installed a puig z-racing smoke windshield last week. It helps deflect the wind slightly better, but I still get most of the bugs directly into my helmet's visor.

Welcome Hemanth and I'm glad to see another Daytona 660 owner on the forum. I agree with you, it's a very comfortable bike to ride. I see you've got the pillion handles fitted but otherwise it looks pretty standard, any plans for more changes? It's a shame you have to have that nasty licence plate slapped across the front.

Finally got the first service out of the way. I've fitted the Triumph tank protector, Triumph rear brake fluid reservoir (because I don't like the cheapo standard plastic effort) and Evotech tail tidy, which was pretty straightforward, following their on-line instructions. The Evotech kit is expensive but very well made. Oh, and I removed those nasty slices of orange from the front wheel

Something that annoys me is the flashing rev counter, which I've mentioned before. During the running in period (600 miles) it flashes at 4000rpm for a couple of hundred miles, then moves to 5000rpm. I know why it does it but in my opinion it's just another totally unnecessary bit of tech. I assumed that once the 1st service was out of the way it would stop but it bloody hasn't! I think it's flashing at 7000rpm now FFS!

Oh, and something else that annoyed me was Youles trying to charge me to fit the tank protector and brake fluid reservoir. I'd ordered them and when I took the bike in for the £110 1st service (didn't they used to be free?) the girl on the desk offered to get the technician to fit them. Sure I said, why not?
She came back and told me it would be a half-hours labour at £66! WTF?
I've just bought a new bike from them. I take my Bonneville to them for servicing. I've bought parts from them. And they wanted to charge me to fit a couple of bits that would take them minutes. Bloody cheek.

Took me 5 mins to fit the tank pad and 15 to do the reservoir.

Thanks. Yep, not avoidable having that ugly reg plate out front as they have to be clearly visible. I also got the tank pad as without it's easy to end up with scratches on the tank. I am planning to get a frame protector and rad guard installed soon along with adjustable levers.
BTW, I haven't seen any flashing lights on the rpm dial. How do you guys think the brakes are as I thought the front bite is a bit less to my liking.
