i lived in the philippines when i was a kid. little boys sold balut on the street out of wooden boxes. the filipinos are ver proud of it
They've got a similar thing in China (duck IIRC) , where I travelled extensively. Really not my cup of tea. Snake, cat and various other outlandish dishes I did enjoy...
A friend brought me this as a pick me up week ago. Unfortunately I've been knocked off the bike and have a few broken bits - pelvis, ribs, assorted sticky out bits at the bottom of my spine, and as a result of all the medication I'm on I can't even have a tot. Most frustrating. On the subject of vegetarian food, I eat quite a lot of it. Usually accompanied by a nice steak. View attachment 20250710_143256.jpg
Egad, Peter!!! Sorry to hear. Heal fast, ride soon! My wife is vegan. She's not a moonbat. She started twelve years ago for health reasons (her asthma has completely disappeared!), She doesn't preach and still wears leather (I love it when she wears leather). It's just a bit of a pain when we go out to eat, making sure the restaurant bread does not contain milk and the salad doesn't come with cheese on it, etc.
Not doing too badly thanks. I can start using both legs next week. Ribs are just bloody annoying. Broken processes at the bottom of the spine, that were below the back protector are literally a pain in the bum. Still all improving
Yup, they will be. Smarts a lot. I had 6 broken (C2 to C8) last year, 3 with multiple fractures. Oxicodon kept me happy... GWS fella! (I ride with an airvest now... )
I had one on. I wasn't thrown far enough for it to go off. I had to get someone to unclip the tether while I was flat on my back.
Spent a week in High Dependancy and Major Trauma wards in Ninewells Dundee. Then a horrendously uncomfortable 7hr ride in an ambulance being transferred to Huddersfield Royal Inf. A further week in there. Been at home since. Unable to do anything as told no weight bearing on my left leg for 6 wks. That's up tomorrow. Physio turning up at 11. Should be fun.
Wow, so a bit of a show all round then. Ribs are a pain but pretty harmless by the sound of the rest of your damage. I bruised, or cracked mine, after falling off off road at zero miles per hour They still took x8 weeks before I didn't notice them. Would you say the accident was your own fault, or the other parties?
It was at the Emmock Roundabout on the A90. I was coming up behind a few cars that were waiting for cars on the roundabout. I could see over them at a gap in the approaching traffic. I filtered up an empty L turn lane. Timing it so I'd arrive as the gap opened up, so I could just open the throttle and be away before the waiting traffic moved. It went as anticipated. Until I looked down to my right as a car front wing touched my right pannier. I gave a push on the left bar and headed towards the kerb rather than go under the car. Next thing I know I'm flat on my back, still attached to the bike by the airvest tether. With a nice lady stabilising my neck, who messaged me later saying she was there when I was knocked off. I'll leave the blame to the solicitors/ insurers.
Umm so that all, unfortunately and sorry to say, sounds a bit 50:50 at best to me So you're in a "left turn only lane" but intending to go straight on, and the front car changes it's mind at the last minute and turns left. Have I understood correctly what you were saying? If correct then surely that could be seen as undertaking, no?
