You're not kidding, South Dakota is for me just stunning, everything about it is just perfect. Off to Mt Rushmore in about a few hours. It's just such a shame that we couldn't have met up.
    Who knows, next time. :):).
As for Crazy horse, it was ,125 dollars each for an hour trip, but it's worth every penny, stick it on your to do list, you'll not be disappointed.

Hi @Helmut Visor. As @Bikerman already said, sadly we didn't get a chance to meet up. :( We missed each other by about two days. We've started to get to the Black Hills earlier in the week than when the rally "officially" starts. It's a bit less busy and the place we like to stay is WAY less expensive. There is still lots going on, though, that's for sure. I think a number of folks are doing something similar. I do have to say that if we hadn't already made our plans (months ago), when Bikerman connected with me about being at Sturgis and the dates they'd be there, I'd have lobbied hard to make sure a meet-up worked out. A wonderful opportunity missed. :pensive:

So glad you two are having a grand time! It truly is a shame that we couldn't manage to meet up. Yes, maybe next time! ;):) I hope you enjoy Mt. Rushmore. We went there last year with my Minnesota family. It was the first time Steve saw it and I hadn't been there since I was a teen--I just manage to remember that far back. :joy: We'll definitely put Crazy Horse on our list and allot the $$ to do so.

We did go to the Little Bighorn Memorial as we traveled across Montana. Steve has wanted to go there since he was a kid. It was incredibly moving.

P.S. @Bikerman Where did you see all the bison?? We saw a huge number in north Yellowstone but didn't get any photos (on bikes in lots of moving traffic). So I'm extra glad to see your photos!!!

Done that a few years ago. So much history, which a lot of us can relate too, because of the TV and films, rather than our history going back hundreds and hundreds of years ago. I don't know if you'll agree with this next statement Sandi, but so many Brits flock to Florida and California, I feel that they're missing the best part. South Dakota is an absolute must do state. We both love it.

The Bison were all in Custer State park. Got really close too, but didn't even think about getting out. One or two just walked right past the car. I'm sure I heard one grunt, 'Bloody Tourists '. :joy::joy:

We heard that's where the bison are to be found in the Black Hills. I love your comment about 'Bloody Tourists'. We spoke with a shop owner in Red Lodge, Montana after we rode through Yellowstone National Park and told her we saw probably a thousand bison including one or two walking across the road. She said that happens regularly and can turn into a downright traffic jam. She also said that tourists do all manner of stupid stuff like try to pet the the bison or try to take selfies with one. Sheesh!:rolleyes: I'm sure some now-deceased tourist that tried that won a Darwin Award posthumously. :joy:

Yes, @Bikerman, South Dakota is a beautiful state--the western part of it. The eastern part is very much like the area in which I great up (southwestern Minnesota)--primarily flat (and windy!) with farms and grasslands. It has its own beauty but I definitely prefer the areas like the Black Hills. Last year we rode 500 miles across the entirety of South Dakota from my family's MN farm mostly on I-90. I don't ever need to do THAT again! ;):joy:

Glad you like them Sandi. It was off to Sturgis this morning, then later the Geographical centre of the USA, then onto the Boars Head just outside Deadwood.

I experienced that slow internet deal lot on the trip we recently returned from, too, @Bikerman. V-e-r-y frustrating. That's actually one of the primary reasons why I've started waiting until I get back home to post ride reports. Not nearly as much fun but a lot less frustration. At the moment I'm in the throes of starting a new job and it's kicking my butt. But I'll post our Sturgis (and beyond) trip one of these days soon. Keep having fun! :) Also, if you get back to the town of Sturgis, check out the Stinger Saloon.;)

Going to Custer again tomorrow, went to the Badlands yesterday, for some reason, the forum just wouldn't let me upload my pictures. It's been in the high 90's today. Went bonkers in the T Shirt department, 12 to date. So much to see. Will go back into Sturgis Friday afternoon and won't be leaving till it's dark, I want to get some good night shots. This has been my 5th time here, and we've packed so much into this area, most days were out for almost 12 hrs. Shame we couldn't meet up, but these things happen.
Some of the pictures above, are from the Broken Spoke Saloon.
