My latest project is a 1050 Speed Triple non abs 2013, bought as a damaged repairable. Managed to source the parts I need but there is a wire that I have no clue about, have looked at various wiring diagrams but no joy. As the bike came damaged not sure where it goes, the wire is front left hand side of the headstock. Hopefully I have attached a pic, plus showing where it runs. Any help gratefully received.

I would trace them back as they don't look like they are part of the standard wiring loom. Maybe an old ancillary power connector?

Thanks for the reply. It does go into the main wiring harness on the right hand side of the air box.

@Heath 1122 Welcome to the family. And yes i would go with @Bolosun it probably will turn out to be a extra someone has had on the bike. But checking won't hurt.

Turn the key on and see if there's power there. If everything else works as it should, then you could use it for something like an accessory plug, but also check where and how much amperage it's fused for. Aside from the fuse compare the wire size to determine how much amperage can be used.

Many thanks for the replies but this cable enters the main wiring harness, not sure where it leads to. It does appear to be part of the main wiring harness. The bike came with no clocks so unable to turn on at the minute.

Just taken tank and airbox off to trace this wire It goes to the OBD port, pic attached. Any ideas as to what should be on the other end ?Thinking it may have something to do with an alarm? Other pic shows damaged intake rubber, so the airbox did need to come off!

That wire could be for the accessory plug (heated grips, alarm, etc.) or possibly a sensor. Check if it’s part of the main loom or an add-on. If you can’t match it to any diagrams, trace it back or ask on the Triumph Rat forum they’re great with odd wires.

Thanks for the reply. Did try to get on Triumph Rat but verification email doesn't appear to be working

There appears to be something plugged into the OBD port? I think there is an aftermarket gear indicator that plugs into this port, could this be it? Normally the OBD connector is just parked on a locating tab, not plugged into anything when not in use.

I’d agree - looks like a Healtech (or similar) gear indicator connection. I have one on my Tiger 1050…..

trace the second wire and I’ll wager it’s a 12v supply tapping.

Many thanks to all for your help and especially to Triple X for saying the OBD should be empty. Great forum to be on.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to take the pic. Looks exactly the same as mine.

Looks like you can trace the second wire back, disconnect it from the 12v circuit then unplug from the OBD socket and bin it
