Triumph Dealer Tried To Scam Me!

    Hi guys,
    It seems that my dealer tried to scam me. In my last revision of my Speed Triple RS 2023, they did the oil service change and controlled some points, but the told me that next check it will cost me over 500€ because they have to do the valve clearance. I like to do the maintenance by myself because I like mecanic and I've never did it before, so I subscribed to the Triumph service manual to check the spare that I'll need and to the HOW TO, but the surprise was that valve clearance service is not checked in the 16.000 km (10.000miles) operations. Indeed it is listed in the 32.000 km service.

    So my conclusion is : They tried to charge me unecessary service that I don't need.

    Welcome to the forum! ;)
    You are right! This is not necessary at this point. Confront them with the Triumph maintenance plan of your bike.;)

    Hi & welcome to the forum, I just wouldn't go back to that dealer again for anything, either do it myself to take it to an Indy.

    Hi and welcome….. I would let the dealer know that you know they have tried to scam you. And then find another garage to do your service.

    You should ask them why they think a valve adj is necessary and then talk with another Triumph dealer or two using their rationale and see what they say. This will confirm it was needed or not. If not, I would name the dealer on this forum and report it to Triumph corp..

    I have to say that they DID NOT scam you. Maybe just the service guy getting mixed up between older and new models? The earlier engine/models had a 12K miles valve check.

    In the USA dealerships of all makes are turning the "scam" screws due to decreasing profits due to the impending financial collapse (only the most blind don't know this is underway) so get used to this "upselling" or worse.

    I took my Tiger 900 to Destination Dorset for an oil change service as I wanted to keep up the stamps in the service book.
    I told them I did not want any other work done.
    They sent me a video saying that it needed a break fluid change, my front tyre was cracked, the rear tyre was squared off, and, get this, the chain had a tight spot ffs.
    All this on a 2 year old 6k mile bike.
    They kindly offered to right all the wrongs for £1100.
    I declined but they still stung me for £312 for an oil and filter service.
    I won't be going back there.

    Triumph going back to the old ways that bankrupted them. Seems its all happening again. Can't they just learn and accept that good service and advice brings riders back and happy
