Today Helmut took his Tuono and I took the Hyperstrada and we just had a quick jaunt to The Oily Rag in Gloucester, we couldn't be too long as he had a haircut booked, so it was just a 70 mile round trip :).

I then picked the Blade up from its service and MOT (passed with an advisory for a noisy exhaust!) but it has been sidelined in the garage for a few weeks until a small oil leak that was found when it was serviced can be sorted.

Quite windy today but taxed the blade and gave it a short shakedown run after the recent servicing works. All was good as expected, so looking forward to getting out further afield.

So I bought a Hp Corse exhaust for the Kove 450 to derestrict it and another ecu to remove this emissions nonsense.
Only a few weeks in, and it needs modifying  it's just way too loud and does my nut in.
They don't offer a decibel killer as they obviously think it's quiet enough; it isn't!
Loud bikes can be good, but there is definitely "nice loud" and "not nice loud" IMO and I would say this is the latter; Too much volume and raucous with it.
Being euro 5 compliant the "baffle" has to be welded in to avoid tampering.
OK so, drill out and remove the spot weld, which was quite hard and difficult to initially get started, but once drilled a swift poke with a sweeping brush handle from the front had it into two parts.

    20250405_205705.jpg

In amongst my workshop stock I had a sheet of pierced plate, a sort of mesh with punched holes.
A quick diddle with pi on the calculator and 104 circumference ( 32mm bore) x 100 mm long sounds a good size.
Tap, tap, tap, and abracadabra :sun:

A couple of tig tacks to glue the stainless bits together and voila.

    Here's before and after.

Now it just needs riding and testing to ensure it meets expectations, if not, try again

Top job there Mr Eldon.:) My FE570 also came with these bits in the exhaust but they just, sort of fell out just after I bought it.:p
    IMG_5272.jpeg

There is still some baffling in there but it's quite loud enough for me as is thank you. It's a 2010 model so Euro 3 I'm guessing, hence the muffler is screwed and not welded together. That's "progress"?
There are a few scroats who frequent some open playing fields near us on various, unplated dirt bikes, probably stolen with straight through pipes and you can hear them coming a mile away.

I fitted one of those honeycomb baffles to a friends mt07 a while back. It appeared to create far too much backpressure and put a big hole/flat spot in the torque curve.

I wouldn't recommend that style of baffle to anyone but YMMV..... best place, bin.

Took the Thunderbird to Lincoln for an MOT, and a new regulator rectifier, as the old one gave up after 30 years. Well along the way a bloody pigeon decided to commit suicide, as he smacked into my right indicator. Managed to modify it, so it would pass the MOT, which it did. As for the pegion the fate of it is unknown.

I hopefully did the last freezy morning office tour with my BMW. -2 degrees at my start at 0500 hours. The afternoon was great with about 16 degrees. Today should have been the last cold night/morning in my area of this spring.;)

Went out on the 400four down to the local bakery for a couple of doughnuts, sun shining,20deg,perfect. Bumbling along then saw a wee car barreling along a side st, driver completely oblivious to the stop/give way,,he couldn't understand why I was upset when he came into the shop behind me.fkn glasses like milk bottles. These duffers should be made to get eyes tested every 6months ,,maybe it was the sun glinting off my bike 20250410_134441.jpg

Thanks for the photos, @Mrs Visor. Those Boss Hoss bikes are something else. Love the paint on this one, though! But, man, that radiator......looks like the box fan we used to have running in our house years ago! :joy:

Hmm, it's always a bummer when there's something with our bikes that just needs to be lived with, @Mrs Visor. But, like bikes, I'm sure there are things about me that my hubby says the same thing--that just needs to be lived with. ;)

Well the baffle all worked out well with a definite reduction in noise and no flat spots.
On the back of the above results, I decided to try for a bit more quieter and so added a 6mm bore washer onto the 10mm original.
This was again successful and I'm now happy to run with it as it is.
Full bore has a lovely " crack or bark" about it, but also trundling past Pc Plod is now more manageable.

Its time for a Spring clean in the garage, so the two wheeled occupants have been trundled out whilst I get to grips with the sweeping brush.
