Well on this damp, cold dismal Monday January morning, I got a phone call from a bike dealer whom I've bought several bikes from in the past. We actually kicked off discussing a bike he'd just got into stock which he thought my girlfriend might be interested in. Long story short, we had gone to the dealership last Autumn to look at a bike my friend was interested in, but (sorry ladies) it was the right bike, but the wrong colour! Fast forward to now and he had rung to tell me he had the right colour bike now, but it was actually a larger capacity model, which I knew was physically too large for her, so we couldn't do a deal. Whilst at the dealership last year, there was another bike I really liked, but was outside my price range. I'd made an offer for it at the time, but it wasn't accepted and as the bike had just come into stock, I didn't really blame him for saying no. It is a desirable beasty. So after we'd chatted about the right colour (wrong model) bike for my friend, I mentioned the other bike which I knew from their website was still in stock. They had dropped the price quite significantly and I was asked if I was interested. I was. But it was still rather a lot of money, so I said I was tempted, but no deal. Once off the phone I couldn't get the idea of perhaps owning this bike out of my head. Like a 17 year old kid, I'd fallen in love with the prospect of it being in my garage. It would stretch my finances to the limit if I did say yes, but wtf! It's only money! So another phone call later and it was turning into one of the most expensive Monday morning phones calls I've ever made! A deposit has been placed so the bike is mine. What bike is it? Well in true cliff hanger fashion, I will keep you all in suspense until I get the bike home, which won't be for a couple of weeks. Then I'll post up some pictures here. The only clues I'll give out now are that it's Italian and its Red.
How exciting!! Clue....is it a sports bike? Ducati?? MV Agusta??? So many questions, so little patience......
Well Mrs V, It is a sports bike, but that's my final clue for now, as you know there are quite a few Italian bike manufacturers past and present: Laverda, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, Moto Morini to name a few, plus of course the two you mentioned. I'm currently visiting my wallet which was taken into A & E suffering from severe weight loss!
Italian and Red……Lewis Hamilton has done something similar, so your not alone… Interesting to see what you have purchased…. Congratulations.
@johne: Thank you for your thread! You described nearly the same situation I had in the last five years. Last September I did the same like you. I paid a deposit for my soon available Rocket 3 R STORM. Reading your story was a great experience for me. Looking forward to get behind your secret!!!

Well, I did used to own one a while back, perhaps I've bought another one? You will have to wait and see.
@johne, you've definitely piqued my curiosity! I'm voting for MV Agusta along with @sprintdave. I have a friend that has (or had?? I've not seen him in awhile) and I told him it looked like jewelry you could ride. And it's red! Well, and white. Can't wait to see what you've bought with your heart leading the way. The best way to do it!
I'm loving the fact that many of you are having a guess. Keep 'em coming. Sadly there's no prize for getting it right, but I'm liking all of your suggestions. No one has said Laverda Jota yet, But I can tell you that's not the right answer. Lovely bike tho.
