Sounds like a great upcoming year, @Markus. Regarding your V8U.S. muscle car rental choice, I'd say go for the Ford Mustang. Not that I'm biased or anything....;):joy:

Sounds like some fun plans, @Bolosun! If you do the Route 66 trip, a fun place to stay in the Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari, New Mexico. We stayed there last July on our way to Minnesota for a family wedding then on to the Black Hills and Sturgis.

Ahh, @Mrs Visor...I don't think you are sad because you keep a log. Maybe that's just because I also tend to log things. I don't log my rides but I have logged every last one of my (scuba) dives. :joy:

Anyway, I think this is a cool thread topic! It's fun to see what people did in 2024 and their plans for the new year. Good for you for all those miles you did last year! :) And it sounds like you have some fun plans for this year!

    2024:
Though I didn't log my rides, I did calculate mileage for each of my bikes:
Triumph Speed Triple RS = 1,363
Harley Low Rider ST = 3,022
    Harley Street Glide = 9,454
    *Harley Street Glide Special
*(sold that bike to my nephew mid-February) = 1,030
    2024 total miles: 14,869

    Our 2025 plans so far:
January: Las Vegas, Nevada for the annual Mecum Antique & Vintage Motorcycle Auction at the Southpointe Hotel & Casino
March: Bisbee, AZ for The Prowl Chopper and Classic Motorcycle Show
June: our annual Tour of the Southwest - northern Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado
July/August: Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (we take the long way there and the long way home ;):))
I'm sure there will be additional spontaneous, shorter trips, say two or three nighters. And our usual Sunday morning breakfast rides. Steve and I would like to go back to Utah to get to actually see Bryce Canyon National Park since my Street Glide wheel problem that left me stranded in Utah skunked efforts last time. It also cut about 1,000 miles off my 2024 mileage since my bike had to be trailered home. :sob::joy: We're hoping to do a scuba diving trip in October but if that doesn't pan out we'll probably try to head back to Utah then.

May each of you have fun and safe motorcycling in 2025!

The only logging I do is tyre and brake pads mileage. I leave the rest to my service intervals. :)

I like to know distance travelled on day rides and trips away. I also keep track of overall mileage for insurance mileage limit - currently I have insurance for 5,000 miles per annum and I usually do high 4,000's.

We will probably be doing the ride with a tour company. I am tempted to go on our own and visit some of the places you have written about though.

I think a tour company is a pretty darned good idea, @Bolosun. They typically know well what they're doing and take you to see the best places.

I used to have a friend who thought it a good idea to just rent a boat and go scuba diving on our own. I asked him two things. One, willl you have oxygen on the boat (to which he gave me a blank look--not good). Two, how he'd know where the best dive sites were. To the second question he just said, well, we can use GPS. Duh... We stuck to going with dive operators who know their stuff!
