That's where my nephew and his buddies typically go, too! I don't know where in MN you live, but it seems to be about the same distance from Tucson to Yellowstone as it is from Minneapolis to Yellowstone (about 1K miles). Just think, you could live in Tucson and ride year round then trailer your snowmobile to Yellowstone for some good sledding in the winter.

 

I’m sure Tucson is nice place, but there is no chance I’ll be spending my summers there or anywhere else is south. I would much rather ride in the cold than try to deal with the summer heat in the south.

 

For me personally I think having a Quickshifter/Blipper is a game changer, like a few have said you only need to use the clutch on first to second and second to first (setting off and coming to a stop), otherwise it work flawless. The same is true for a lot of motorcycle electronics, take the STRS 765 for example, you can turn off all rider aids, I did this in the summer for a track day (I don't do hardly any these days), the reason why I turned everything off was to avoid the ABS and traction control kicking in, now would I turn them off for riding on public roads not a chance, I embrace the electronic advancements, having ridden many many machines with no rider aids I am a convert to all these advancements. Take the electronics on my son's Panigale 1299s, it has fantastic electronics, his quickshifter is silky smooth and one of the best I have ever used, he runs it permanently in race mode, however when I ride it I put it in sport mode as it utilises more electronics, it is running 220 BHP and is lighter than my STRS 765, so for me personally it gives a far better riding experience, and I wouldn't want to keep using the clutch lever to change up and down the gearbox all the time on twisty country roads. The same is true for the clutch slip assist design the bikes have, changing down gears approaching bends, you no longer risk having the back wheel lock up as you used to have. Knowing how and why these electronics work is also vital, as is their limitations and rider ability. If all the rider aids enhance a riding experience and make for a more enjoyable ride out, then why would anyone not want this. Ride safe all from an ageing Rocker.

 

Lol i agree with everything you and everyone has said,it's only my opinion that it doesn't do it for me (at this point).And i can't see it will change, especially as every triumph I've owned and ridden have had brilliant gearboxes.Plus I seem to recall that it wasn't too long ago that members were saying they had wrecked their gearboxes using quickshifters.

 

Pumped the front tyre up, was doing the monthly ole blokes ride over our hills, with a stop at a neat country pub, but it seemed a little heavy in the front and was a bit of a shit in tight bends ... apparently one is recommended to run more than 13lb in the front ?
Haven't had this happen before, and being in a hurry, just gave the tyres a quick thumb push, which will not happen again !!!!!!!

 

A bit more work on the bike, Cerakoted header pipes and link pipe fitted, I chose to fit the Scorpion Ceramic Black end can, as I thought it looked better than the stainless steel one I have, the Yoshimura does sound great but having had the Scorpion link pipe Cerakoted I went with this set up. Sump pan coated and back on, along with other bits and pieces, fresh coolant and she fired up straight away, radiator repair holding up great, she sounds good as well. All there is left to do is re fit the side panels, indicators, belly pan and front mudguard. I have removed everything apart from the engine out, stripped and re greased all levers, footrests, quickshifter linkage, etc etc.

Off to a bike show about 50 miles south shortly ....for a small town, these guys run a great show and their own bikes are outstanding.
Son has done the award trophies for 'Best Bike', etc, in timber around 500mm square on his copying machine, he scans pictures into the computer, fiddles about with size, depth of cut, this and that, pushes the go button and wanders off ! Sounds simple .... haha ?
Once the picture is engraved he gently burns it, enough to blacken and then sands over leaving the picture and writing highlighted (or low lighted) ? Very effective !
A good hobby since he broke both legs in an accident at the final speedway meet last season ... though as they were just over the line he was still awarded "3rd New Zealand Sidecar Speedway Championship" !

And today we have to race back as he is now Sidecar Rep ... and this year's championship is being held here tonight !!!
And, to add to his woes, he went to take the 1200 Bonnie for it's first ride since ... and discovered he can't change gear as his leg hasn't healed straight, poor bugger ?

After the weekend snow, the sun has been shining here today and it's forecast rain for tomorrow, so I thought it was time to go for a spin. The roads are (predictably) still damp where its shady and covered in a film of crap, but I enjoyed my little ride around in the late November sunshine. I didn't enjoy so much the bike cleaning session when I got back! Lol

On Saturday I went out to do a bit of Christmas shopping. To my dismay, I opened my wallet to see that my primary credit card was missing. But I quickly realized where I'd probably left it and that was confirmed when I called. So....good excuse to get Speedy out and ride to collect my missing plastic. I'd left it at a sports bar called--appropriately--Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers when Steve and I stopped for a bite on our way home from our mechanics garage.

I decided to add a few miles before heading home to do home "stuff".

 

Nothing worse than that, Oh Shit sinking feeling, glad you got it back OK.

 

Thanks, @Bikerman! You are SO right about that "Oh shit sinking feeling". The kicker is that this was the 2nd time I'd done that with the same card in the past month! Previously I left it at one of our favorite neighborhood Mexican restaurants. I rode Speedy over to get that one, too. Hmmm....I don't think I should be rewarding my forgetfulness with a ride on my Triumph.

 

As has been said, that feeling when realisation dawns is awful. Very pleased you got it back and what better weather to ride the Speedy in??
