Daytona 600 Ignition Switch Wire Colors

    Hi,

    I just bought an 04 Daytona 600 that had the barrel damaged due to theft. I bought a ZX9 barrel and wanted to see if I can make it work. Can anyone help tell me or show me a wiring diagram showing what color wires are for on the switch? Thanks in advance

    Yellow
    Light blue
    Black white
    Brown
    Red
    White green
    White

    Ok, I think I figured it out(color diagram below for anyone who may want to know) but now the bike isnt starting. Lights and dash come on but no crank/start.
    When the wires were hot linked by the previous owner after it was stolen, it started fine. Any ideas?

    Yellow - Green - Orange
    Blue - Red/Blue - Green
    Black white - Orange - Black
    Brown - Blue/Yellow - Red
    Red - Red/Orange - Grey
    White green - Orange/Green and Black/Blue - Brown/White
    White - White/Blue - Brown

    If your brake lights functions normally when the brakes are operated, and you have power on all the fuses from the forward fuse box.
    Then the barrel should be connected correctly.( according to the schematics).

    Nice pickup with the ’04 Daytona 600 — even if it came with a bit of a project attached! It’s always a bit of a puzzle when mixing parts across models like that, especially with something as finicky as ignition wiring. Hopefully someone here has a matching diagram or has tackled something similar — the Triumph forums or even some ZX9 build threads might be worth checking too.

    Wiring swaps can definitely test your patience, but once you get it sorted, it’s such a rewarding feeling hearing that first start-up. I’ve had a couple of those “wiring spaghetti” moments myself, and man, a multimeter becomes your best friend real quick.

    Also — side tip while you’re wrenching in the garage: grab some freeze dry food to keep on hand. I started keeping a few packs around, and it’s a total lifesaver when you’re deep in a project and don’t want to stop everything to cook. Just boil water, stir it in, and get right back to work with a full stomach. Not the same as a burger and fries, but it does the job!

    Good luck getting everything hooked up — looking forward to seeing that Daytona come back to life.
