Hello All.... just joined and new Daytona 955i owner... I bought this as a bit of a project and already need some help!!! Main problems are:- Exactly what model do I have Reg/Rec cables getting very hot very quickly Datatool alarm.... its been standing for ages and i dont want it anyways!!! Model. I bought this as a 2002 955i, which it is on the V5, it has a one piece nosecone fairing and no separate belly pan on the lowers, but investigations show that this would probably have had a two sided swingarm... except this one doesn't?...... and has a single sided fitted.... so what is it... It was registered mid 2002 and its the Caspian Blue colour. Reg /Rec With the battery connected the cable at the , new looking, reg/rec get hot very quickly, so does the alternator plug connector under the airbox. Im assuming this is a bad connection casuing too much resistance or maybe a shot reg/rec?.... The bloody Datatool..... I cant attempt to fire this up due to the alarm whpch I cant disable, dont want it any way so after looking the all knowing thing that is U Tube, I opened the little connector box with the 4 tiny torx screws, and cut the cable of going to the alarm unit, I linked out 1&2 and 3&5 as per the video I watched but nothing.... Any thoughts on what the correct link out is on the Daytona?....or why its not working... I hate bike electrics normally...... cheers in advance !!! Stu Northumberland
Could the bike be a 2001 model that was first registered in 2002? The reg/rec is a well known issue, if you google search I am sure you will find all the answers you need ie best replacements and cable changes. Here is a pic of the alarm bypass mod for a 955i, does it match what you have done? I'm no leccy so can't help further I'm afraid.
