I had to removed my tank on my 2023 speed twin 900 to repaint it. Now with the tank back on with everything hooked up and gas in it, it won’t even crank. I have a check engine light. I tried turning it off and on several times and that didn’t do anything. It worked fine before I took the tank off.

I would remove and clean all the connections, and check to see if new paint might be insulating a ground (earth) connection to the frame.

Did you turn the ignition on whilst the tank was removed?

I once did this to check the mileage on my 765 and that popped up the eml light.
No faults but jackplugs weren't connected.

Tuneecu resolved mine and was simple if you have the kit. You might need to code reader it to clarify the problem.

Check engine kill switch. Not in gear. Pull clutch in. Battery and connections.

Ok repainted why was it damaged???

Was all ok before you took off the tank.???

Was the pump on the underside of the tank disturbed??

There are 2 multi pin plugs under the tank on a wiring harness are all the pins ok.....none bent.....they are a fiddle to connect.

Is the fuel system fuse ok have you looked at it???

There is a way to get the bikes display to show the fault code....would need to read up on it again to see how its done.

Is the battery still fully charged...does the head light come on bright on turning on the ignition.

Sometimes a fault code can be got rid of by simply disconnecting the battery for a few mins.

Anything more that that the likes of TUNEECU is req to check for faults.

I got it a few years ago.....never needed it thank god.
