Here we go get the fecking stupid baffle out of that "race" can. sorry about the poor picture quality in advance. The baffle is held in with a low amp low penetration weld, Drill out the four black rivets holding the end cap on, Carefully grind/sand the weld down until a line appears (only a mm or 2 ) no rush check often, then insert some thing the same size of the baffle and tap side to side until it breaks free (if it doesn't free easily sand some more) You should now have a baffle free can and a baffle to keep for the MOT in three years! Put the end cap back on with self tappers or rivets your choice. I happened to have 4 10 mm long 4/0.7 mm domed allen head bolts so ran a tap in the rivet holes to create a thread which worked well. You now have the exhaust you thought you'd bought and the choice to run the baffle or not. Deep growly noice with flames not road tested yet so will update findings. Hope this is a help to those who hate "The Baffle" Rocker
Hello, very good job. I've the same system on speed triple r 2016 and would like to remove the baffle. So excuse but i'm french and a little difficult to understand all. So after remove the end cap i need to cut weld but i do it by outside or Inside ? In your picture weld is out all time ? Thanks for help
Hi You are right there is no picture with the original weld (I had already done it before thinking the method may help some others and I should take some pictures). I used a rough grit sanding disc in a grinder. Carefully take the weld off from END of the can (it is not a cut but more removal by grinding/filing/sanding the weld back) it should then look like picture 2 with the line of the two parts. Hope this helps
Hi, many thanks for precision, it's verry helpfull. I understand now how you do. Could you give me your feedback with and without the baffle : - torque and power feeling - sound wtithout the baffle Thanks again
No more power as the map from Triumph is the same for baffle in or out but the noise is much better but not over the top and if you don't like it put the baffle back in!
thanks rocker, i ask for torque and power because on my first speed triple ( 2005 ) i've a full zard exhaust. And with baffle lot of torque but less power in high rpm and without baffle less torque but much better on top rpm. Just feeling on ride off course. I know with arrow system there is a great map, how do you feel torque and power ? Same with and without baffle ? I just want best sound but not decrease torque or power. Could you tell me the type of black rivets i need after. Thanks
Hi Maybe a slight bit less torque but not really noticeable and if you use rivets make sure you have made some way of refitting the baffle as it would be a pain drilling them out again, maybe black self tapping screws etc might be better I had something lying about to do the job. Ebay for rivets/screws/etc
Thanks all for your help, it's very cool. I try remove the baffle, after lot of pain it's succes but very hard to remove after remove weld ...! I think it's difficult to had and remove this easly like a removable baffle. So i'm now happy with sound, very great sound. Just do a little ride and i don't notice any change for the moment. It's good to. Now just need to find some black rivets or screw to fix end cap and also a system for the baffle. Many thanks again for your help...
She's doing well mate, not been out much unfortunately! Had to put the baffle back in for a training day.
