I have a situation with my front axle on my 2020 Speed Triple RS. I am trying to remove the front axle. The axle removes from the right side of the fork using a 17mm hex socket. The left side that the axle threads into is coming out also. Is this a problem? Will the axle come out anyway? The is another problem as well, the spacer on the right side is getting stuck on the axle causing the forks to begin to spread apart as I unthread the axle. I can not see any reason for the spacer to be stuck but it is binding as it begins to come out. The axle went in a came out seamlessly for a tire change. My Triple is Clean, undamaged and has very low miles at this point. Can I safely heat the stuck spacer? Can I assume that both spacers are identical? Or is there a left and right side? Anything is helpful, Thanks
Have you fully loosened the 2 axle pinch bolts under the right fork leg bottom? The spacer should not be stuck - don't be fooled by the gap between the spacer and fork leg as this is normal. The axle has a shoulder which clamps against the spacer when the spindle is tightened as the right fork leg floats on the shoulder until clamped in position by the 2 pinch bolts. The 2 spacers are identical but it is good practice to replace them on the same side they were removed from and the same way round. Heating the spacer might damage the grease seal that the spacer fits into.
Thank you!! This is what I suspected. The two pinch bolts were loosened. I was wondering about the small gap between the spacer and the fork leg and I could not remember if it had it before disassembly. I thought that the spacers were identical but forgot to compare them when the tire was replaced. Everything seemed to be in its exact position and never looks the same after you take it apart from the factory positions. Very helpful.
Hi Patrick, first of all are the spacers grooved or plain, there is a difference, given it is a 2020 model it should be plain, if so they are the same, look at the spacers and you should see surface marks from seating, unless you gave them a thorough clean and polish, they will then correspond to the correct sides. It is critical not to overtighten the fork leg pinch bolts, otherwise you risk cracking the lower clamps. It makes life easier when taking out wheels to mark the off side spacer with a felt pen, that way you know instantly which side they go on.
Thanks for the reply. It would have saved me some heartache if I had compared them side by side before moving forward. I have determined, since my first post That they are the same. I didn’t remember noticing any difference in the two when I removed them to begin with. i was just surprised that something like this occurred considering this was the first tire change that I have had. The disassembly was flawless and it reassembled flawlessly as well. It was noticing a Small gap that made me Second guess what was going on. Then when I tried to disassemble and compare that I couldn’t pull the axle out. The spacer apparently has some deformity and will need replacing on the next tire change. Everything is back together and all systems function properly. It doesn’t take much to damage an aluminum spacer. Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
Iceman, do you happen to know the torque setting for a front axle 2020 speed triple? I was told it was 81ftlb or 110nm.

Printed service manuals are no longer available from Triumph. You have to subscribe to Triumph Technical Information online to access the official manual for which there is a charge based on the time spent online. Prices are reasonable for limited access to get a full list of torque values for example.
It is 65nm and not 110nm, the Street Triple 765rs is 110nm for the rear axle nut so definitely don't tighten to 110nm or you will risk damage.
