Having previously owned a 2005 Sprint RS I'm aware that the engine coating is liable to flaking/bubbling and peeling. What is the best method of preventing this on my next Triumph? cheers, Dave.
Hi Ade. You don't have to tell me about the BMW issue. My F800 (Rotax engine) is almost naked due to the engine coating flaking. Looks abysmal! Considering the damn thing is designed to be used in any climate it's extremely poor.
Avoid letting water settle and too much gravel .. not easy Wipe over with wd40 to help with water removal. Don't use harsh chemical Cleaners As little adequate suggests..... or don't ride it!!! Seriously though I think very regular low impact cleaning must help but at some point bits will go... I'm hoping the new 2016 finish is tougher than the smooth of the last model. Having owned some older bikes in good nick it has to be down to careful ownership and use of good cleaning practises. Do they have this finish on other bikes?
After a little internet trolling (or is that trawling ) I remembered ACF-50 being touted as one possible solution. Aircraft grade neutraliser and stabiliser. Reading the bumf, and watching the promo videos, could be what I was after. Can be bought and applied personally but my fingernails are soft and I need soft hands for work
Oh, Ade, remember lead paint on toy soldiers? Hardy stuff and teaches children not to put things in their mouths!
Looks like ACF50 will be getting applied shortly, get it done ready for the British weather to turn (wait a minute, when did summer start?).
