Hi crispey no not yet having a meeting this week the lads so we can all get in touch with different areas to try and spread the word so your help would be much appreciated we want to make this attempt to be as hard to beat. As possible , thanks .akko
If that compulsion wasn't there, yes I would. I would also donate as I would have without this compulsion. It's the compulsion I have a problem with. Not the charity or the record attempt
Does that mean that you don't do Easter egg runs or Christmas toy runs because you would be expected to provide a donation (cash/egg/toy) when taking part? Sometimes I despair!
It's expected but not compulsory Steve. I always miss those two funnily enough but that's because usually I'm busy with other things. It's the compulsory aspect I have a problem with.
Gary, it's more of an entry fee to join the (hopefully) record breaking parade, with all the money going to a very worthy cause. My local bike club holds a charity run every year for Maggies centre and the entry fee is £12.00
I take your point about compulsion, Gary. I'm not necessarily one to obey the will of others just because they think I should. But, surely it must be right to give to the charity concerned if you are attending their event. If not, why bother attending? An Easter egg run without an Easter egg is just a .... run, which serves no charitable purpose.
If I go to a charitable event I make a donation. Quite often it's a charity such as air ambulance and I can't go I will send a donation,as I will normally know some one that's going so just get them to take it for me. I never seem to be free when Easter egg runs or toy runs are on but donate to them. Cash rather eggs or toys as they will already get loads off those attending. My local toy run is run by Bill Smiths ( Triumph dealer ) so getting a donation in is fairly easy. My nearest egg run is the Wirral one. Been here 15 years still have never managed to get to it. I've been to one in Yorkshire twice oddly enough. It was just the way my shifts worked out.
Hi Akko, I won't be able to make the record attempt but have donated via Jessica's just giving page. Worth ticking the Gift Aid option to add an extra £1.25 to your fiver!
Hi Akko, Won't be able to attend but have left a donation via Jessica's just giving page. Hope you break the record
Hi guys many thanks for the donations it's very much appreciated sorry you can't make it but if you talk to any triumph riders please spread the word once again thanks for your support. All the best, ride safe. AKKO
