Thank you @RevPaul , I’m happy with how it’s going so far. Next job is to try and make some new end cans. Won’t be too hasty selling the Weslake Shorty cans just in case my skills don’t stretch that far!!

And yes been a Beartown resident for about 14 years. We love it here.
Happy to support our local brewery, they do some cracking beers!!

I see you’re somewhere somewhere Cheshire, did you move far away?

20230307_090515.jpg Annual MOT test passed this morning and of course DVLA have relieved me of £101 road tax, so the Street triple is road legal again, just in time for the snow to arrive! Lol :joy:

I did a a wonderful 130 km ride with my Bonnie on Saturday between some days of ugly, stormy weather with snow.

Got this photo sent to me by my neighbor today. This is my cabin shown earlier. You cannot see most of the lower 6-7 feet of the house. We got a total of 9 feet of snow. Now we have rain coming. Not getting much riding done but I think our drought is over. ...J.D.

You should have brought the bike into the nice warm living room or lounge, much more comfortable than that freezing garage.

Welded up stainless tube to make first new end can on the Thruxton R. Needed a bit more cleaning up, baffle and hanger bracket and then replicate for other side.
    31205FD3-9925-489C-87C9-2BEE78FD02C4.jpeg

Was happy enough with how it’s turned out.
Then I wondered how it would look with just the smaller diameter tube to the end. Easy, only one weld to get the angle right and I think a good option.

Tools down for now until I decide which one to complete make a pair of. A3B2E96E-98B3-45CD-8F65-C154E95E226B.jpeg

They're nice; I think I like the smaller diameter ones (not that it matters, it's obviously what you like that does !!).

almost as cold as the proverbial witch's tit in a brass bra up here in appalachia last week. but got a reasonably warm sunny day and pulled out the 1972 bonneville to break myself in again for the spring. nothing has been out all winter.

and i couldnt get the bitch to run. ive ridden this machine for 47 years now, and im more familiar with getting it to run than i am with my wife. full tickle, no tickle, half throttle, cracked throttle, enricheners on the mikunis on, off, et cetera, sea level to 10,000 feet, western deserts to eastern woodlands . . . i should know what to do by now, you'd think. got a rumble so i know theres spark, but the mixture just giggled at me.

the wife continues to be a frustrating mystery after 30 years, but this motorcycle is more accessible. here is the bitch herself, at the races several years ago. 118 mph, that day, but not today:

i messed up my left hip joint a while back trying to stretch it out, because i have to fold into a tuck on my race bike this coming july. overdid it, and now i walk like chester out of gunsmoke.

and so my ability to stand on that leg and kick with the other is somewhat hampered. wont be a problem for the race bike because i have a hand-held starter, but it was a real jab in the eye not to get the bonneville to fire. eventually i wore out before it did, and i accepted defeat and went out on the 97 buell, which has an electric leg. much faster and lots more torque, but not nearly as interesting

hope this isnt a harbringer of deterioration to come anytime soon. ive still got stuff to get done.

    Thanks all for the comments.
Looked again today and sticking with the original plan of the larger diameter ones, is a good look and especially from the back. (Although will prob finish the other set as well!)
Anyway making the first one wasn't too bad, but I've had a right challenge this afternoon making the right side to match the same angles and re-doing the slash cut to be perpendicular to the ground.
Nice enough project and progress today but still more to do.
    Watch this space!
And yes it's been a cracking little bike so far, great fun to ride and enjoy a bit of spannering time in it's off season.

So I bought this as a Black Friday deal and it's sat in the garage loft since with the 765 off the road for winter.
Today was the day to get the 765 ready for the 2023 riding season. I took videos, mainly for the sound, of the original, no silencer at all, Scorpion can fitted with and without baffle.

    VideoCapture_20230312-230111.jpg

    VideoCapture_20230312-230139.jpg

With baffle (above) sounds about right although may be subject :p but I don't want that annoying drone when on motorway constant throttle scenarios o_O

    VideoCapture_20230312-230158.jpg

I need to mot it then ready for test riding :yum

Annoying drone on the motorway? Never experienced that myself, you're obviously not going fast enough.

FellZebra, you definitely made the right choice with the fat end-can, it looks far better. It's a chunky bike and the skinny one looks..well..too skinny.
