The Insurance decide to write my bike off. No repairs. I get more than 4000£ back, and have the choice of getting Betty Back, damaged, or ask for the salvage money. (if I understood things correctly) As advised in here ( thank you ) I took no decisions on the phone and am now waiting for the papers. (They insisted that I get those 4k back no matter what as the bike is a write off). The responsibility is still to be determined. ( you must be fucking kidding me ) I will need to find examples of a "less than 2 years old - less than 1000 miles on the odometer" bonneville t100 that cost more than 6800£ to get more more money than what I paid for initially. Screen captures. I'll work on that soon. If you ever come across it, it will be very very appreciated. Now time to cool off, and take time to breathe, I'm pretty bummed up about this one.
Go back to your dealer and get them to write you a letter with their estimated value of your bike. I had a hurrumphMW written off it was 9 years old but low mileage and immaculate. The insurance company wanted to give me £1200 for it, I got a letter from ye BMW shop that had serviced it for 4 years stating its condition etc made it worth £3000 I got £2500 but wasn't able to keep it, they said it would be scrapped. 6 months later I got a letter From some one asking the history as they'd just bought it!!
I bought my bike at Edinburgh Triumph for 6800£, the price was 6900 and I got a 100£ pound rebate (yay). Do you think they will do what you just said ? Thx for replying.
Hi Sam, the thing to remember is that this is a negotiation. If I understand it correctly they have offered you £4000 plus salvage value (how much in pounds in that?) If I were in your shoes I would be gathering evidence to support a claim for more money - and don't forget you need a chunk of cash for new bike clothing in addition. DO NOT accept their first offer. My bike was a 2014 Bonneville t100 Black and Cherry with 680 miles on the odometer, and still under manufacturer's warranty. Absolutely spotless, not a scratch. And, Dave, I must say, I had your word yoda style in my head. Refuse first offer, wait for papers ( official proposal ), take your time !

Gather more evidence from other sources, such as Autotrader, MCN etc etc. If they don't increase their offer, ask them to find you a 2014 T100 with 650mls

A little news for those whom it might be of interest. After countless phone calls, the reception of useless papers, and such, I finally had my insurance (Carole Nash, but in the end a company called Plantec Assist is actually dealing the claim) to agree to send me by mail the full engineer report on my bonneville. One thing is sure, Plantec WILL rush you to make quick decisions, to make uninformed choice over the choice. Hang tight, when they have your bike, they can't do anything without your say so... Now here is the deal, I had a refund of 4900£, and they propose me to "scrap my bike" for 1900£. Honestly I am fairly certain it's rather more selling it to someone who's gonna fix it himself. What I want is to have the full engineer report and then have a garage of my choice telling me how much he will charge me to fix all that. What do you guys think ?
Good idea Sam. Bear in mind that if they do sell it on they can only do that if it is classed as a Catergory C or D write off. A and B are not allowed to be sold to the public. Also if it's sold to a member of the public it's likely that the buyer would do all or most of the work to avoid labour charges. Just out of interest what has it been classed as A,B,C or D. If A it's supposed to go straight to a crusher. B IIRC only certain parts of it can be sold but the frame must be destroyed. C/D are the lesser damaged ones but are usually uneconomical for repair by garages due to the cost of labour and parts.
Its looking a lot better Sam money wise, your somewhere near to your actual outlay, Your actions are spot on, read engineers report this will be the worst possible senario, but you should know the damage for yourself in your own mind you saw the bike following the accident when it happened, The way to go is a difficult question for you to make, but I do think its definitely worth more than the salvage price and if it was my choice bearing in mind I have not seen your bike at all My own choice would be to buy the bike back, please check that covers all bills, recovery and storage costs etc !! The choice for you is a personal one bearing in mind your very new to motorcycling or repairs but your going the correct way about things, by doing your homework, have a scout about and see if theres's any offers available I'm sure you will do the right thing in the end. Ok, forst above all thanks gor your ansewrs, guys. It’s category D. As far as I am concerned, the “big” damage is to the front light, possibly fork (not sure), meters busted, , gear shift peg torn off and by so: possible damage to the gear shift. the rest is paint and scrathces, a handle to change, a signalt to replace. The mistake is now 100% the third party’s fault ( as it should be FFS.... ) and I have no idea what’s going to happen to my insurrance policy. I’ll will keep you guys informed.

I would be tempted to buy it back too if that's all the damage there is. Most of the parts could be bought on eBay I would imagine considerably cheaper. At least it hasn't been written off due to damage to the frame.

If my bike is getting fixed, it's not from my hand. Purely on a technical basis. New handles, scratch free stuff, that i'll do. Simple stuff. We'll how all that progresses soon.
