Top man tcbandituk, he has it spot on. I was replacing the OEM air filter for a K@N one, this is prior to having it set up on a rolling road with a re map etc, I had already de catted the exhaust and fitted a Scorpion system, however I have changed back to the Yoshimura I fitted when it was new for the re map, when I removed the tank I noticed straight away that the UMU was not located correctly and no sign of the retaining clip, I have never previously removed the tank, however whilst the bike was under warranty I always had it dealer serviced, as soon as it is out of warranty I service it myself (as a time served mechanic, albeit in another life) and have the dealer tool and service sheets, anyhow my Triumph dealer serviced it in the winter of December 2021, the winter offer applied, the service was supposed to remove, check and re fit the plugs as well as the usual stuff, now I could tell that the air box had been removed due to the internal marks on the torx retaining fasteners, my first thought was "has it been left off and in the dealers workshop", however after inspecting everything else, low and behold there it was deep in the engine bay (photo attached), the UMU had been banging about a bit by the look of the marks on it, thankfully nothing serious and everything put back together correctly, the OEM air filter also appeared to me as though it had not been cleaned (by air line), I say this as I have not covered many miles since the service (been riding another machine). I have a great relationship with the dealer and I am on first name terms with the staff, therefore I won't name them, and hope it was an isolated case with possibly the apprentice doing the work. Anyway as I will do all the servicing and repairs myself in the future I know all work will be to a good standard. It is worrying though that we pay good money for the servicing (£750 for the 12,000 service), we should all expect better. After the re map and other mods I have done it should be putting out around 130 bhp, but the throttle response will be transformative, no snatchiness and better acceleration and mid range, combined with the K Tech front and rear suspension handling will improve even better than it is. I was thinking of trading it in for a either a new RS or Ducati Streetfighter V2, but given the amount of time and money invested up to now I intend keeping it and outright buy the new steed. Ride safe all from an ageing Rocker, oh and don't forget the Kickback Motorcycle Show on the weekend of 8/9th April at Manchester Central, maybe it might re kindle my love of choppers again.

Confession time, I've removed the tank and the airbox a number of times on my 2020 and getting the retainer to clip on properly can be slightly tricky and it's easy to knock it as you replace things, so it was the first thing I noticed :D

Mine puts out 124hp at the back wheel at MSS, with just an Akrapovic and PCV, everything else is std.

I just picked up a new Ducati Monster SP. No doubt about it, Ducati knows how to make a fine piece of kit. Triumph should have a closer look.

I have had a number of Ducati's in the past, my oldest son always goes for Ducati, although he does have expensive tastes in bikes, that said he is single, no mortgage or debts, he just loves the Panigale. I am undecided as to buying a new 765rs or the Streetfighter V2. Although I am at the KickBack show in April so it may be another Chopper.

Thanks for info on kickback show @Iceman I wasn't aware of that one but now circulated to riding buddies.

Enjoyed a similar one offs custom show a few years back at a Leeds warehouse. There was some really nice engineering and butchered classics and even a few Triumphs there. Apparently Triumph HQ had provided some custom builders to do a commission build and then lent it to dealers to take to various shows to garner interest and publicity.
