Sorry for not looking into this much before asking the question but has anyone got any solutions for making both sides of the light work? What needs to be done to get both sides to work and has anyone tried it? Its not just as simple as installing another bulb I take it? I dont like the asymmetric look much and it would be fine if the headlights were of comparable brightness to the last headlights (which were incredible) but it just feels like you have blown a bulb when you are using them as well as looking like it.
If you do this you might want to have a switch so you can go to a single light if the visibility is really poor. The two lights can create the illusion of you being a car further away. I have seen this illusion twice and nearly had accidents because of it, once in mist and once on a motorway at night in the rain.
Really? I am not sure how that could happen. The look of headlights far away in a fog and close up is completely different. Not only that if it's far away the diffusion would make it look like a single headlight wouldn't it? I am not saying I don't believe it's possibly a risk I just cant say I have had that problem yet with motorcycles with dual headlights. Incidentally: My last bike (street triple rs) ran with dual headlights in all modes and was fine. Either way noted. Do you happen to know whats involved in doing it please?
Not saying everyone is going to start hitting you. I have only seen the effect twice that I am aware of after 30 years of driving and riding. In those two cases the only consequence was a jolt of adrenaline. I don't have any links to studies or anything like that. The most recent occasion was on an unlit section of motorway at night in the rain, in those conditions you can only really see the lights. For all the world the bike looked like a car in the distance, far enough to look like plenty of space to pull into when actually there was barely any.
All that is needed to make both lights operate is a new relay, they are reasonable to buy, look on the internet there are plenty of reputable companies that sell them.
If it is the same as the older Triumphs there will be a spare port fir the relay,m just pop one in there. Dont just buy a car one tho as they are different, think it is a 5 pin one but check first.
Hi, I've just bought a 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS. I don't find the headlights good at night on dip beam. Can anyone confirm whether the second relay worked, as discussed on this thread, and where is the empty relay position on the bike? Thanks in advance.
