    Hi all

New to the forum. I have a 2018 speed triple rs and looking into a professional suspension set up as I'm just no good at the dark art. Does anyone have any recommendations in the Surrey area.

    Thanks

    Colin

Hi Cleg. I can't give you a recommendation in the Surrey area but welcome to the forum anyway. It's likely someone here will be able to help. :)

Hi there cleg. There’s been a few shouts for mct suspicion based in stowmarket.
Granted, a bit of a hike but just think of the ride back along the A12 and M25!
For me, (1050 rs) I backed front compression (left leg) to min, rebound (right leg) 3 from min ant 1/2 turn less on preload (both legs).
Same for the back except left the preload standard. . 14 stone less gear.
Made ALOT of difference and is way nicer. Of course, each to their own but definitely worth a go imho.

Thanks for the advise. Not sure it will work for me at only 11 1/2 stone but no harm in giving it a go.

It will definitely make it better/softer (if thats what you want of course )
And, if you don't like, you can just set it back to whats in the book afterwards.

I have the same bike and year.
The standard Ohlins suspension is pretty stiff and I'm over 16 stone in all my kit.
I know loads of folk will disagree with me but I suspect this is throwing good money at what is largely hocus pocus on a road bike . . . .
I merely left the front forks as is but softened the damping/rebound a tad at the rear to make the bike a little more pliant - now possibly more comfortable by a small degree but probably not as good when pushing along . . . . I don't go there anyway and so suits me.

Hi Colin and a warm welcome to the forum. I got a little fed up with the stiff suspension on my 20 STRS, these are delivered from the factory on the road settings, whilst these are ok on smoother roads, however when riding the awful British roads we seem to have, I got fed up with feeling every bump and undulation that transmitted to by back, so decided to adjust the suspension, starting with the front forks I adjusted the Compression, Rebound and Preload to a softer setting, then adjusted the rear Ohlins shock Compression and Rebound again to a softer setting, then measured and adjusted the Sag. All in all it only took 20 minutes from start to finish, the only tools you require is the one supplied by Triumph for the front fork Compression and Rebound (round alloy key) and the allen key in the tool kit under the seat (minimal) and a C Spanner for the rear spring spring (not in the toolkit). I went out on a 100 mile round trip in cold and damp conditions, and what a transformation, I no longer feel like I have been jarred about. The STRS has to be one of the easiest and most straightforward machines to adjust the suspension on that I have done. It is easy and quick to stiffen it up for track day riding should you so wish. The one thing to remember is write down how many clicks you make for each adjustment, this will allow you to return it to the factory settings should you so wish. It really isn't a dark art at all and don't be frightened of doing so yourself.

Hi, I,ve got a 2018 Speed Triple 1050RS and I've never really had the suspension set up, front seems a bit hard and I was going to go to Revs Suspension but unfortunately they have called it a day. Does anyone know where I could get my bike set up, I'm based in Worcestershire...thanks

Worth the ride over to Ebbw Vale to see Will here: https://swbracing.com/

There are some great roads there and he was absolutely fantastic with my Street Triple, his set up made a world of difference.

Thank you Mrs Visor, I'll bear them in mind, it was a shame about Revs as they were just half an hour away

I have heard that Lee Motorcyles in Ledbury do it, but have never used them so have no idea what they are like (heard positive things though).

Whilst I'm on a roll :) ..... I'm looking to replace the Metzeler roadtech 02's which need changing but seems a minefield with tyres, looking for a good general tyre that's not too slow warming up (I don't do too many long journeys), adequate in the wet, good wear but good handling. I'm not an out and out scratcher but like a tyre that I can have confidence with...or is that asking too much!
