I have been wanting to do this ride for a long time and didn't think I had the right bike for the job, but I was wrong the bike perform very well, I would say the Corbin seat made a big different in the comfort of the ride, I have done it and will never do it again just because of my age.
The ride was around the South Island of New Zealand, it took just under 27 hours and cover 2075lm.

Awesome effort Jacknzone. You had mentioned wanting to go on a big ride, so happy your Speedy was up to task.
I have ridden to Nelson and back, with a tour around Motueka, but missed riding to Invercargill in Feb for the cancelled Burt Munroe
Would have done TRMCC AGM in Hamber Springs on the way back.
Seat looking good, I still love mine for position and comfort :p

Thanks, Dartplayer I was glad to see the end of the ride but still Glad I did it, I am thinking I will stay around 400 to 700 km for my day ride from now on, Think I do around the block on New Year's Day as I did it last New Year's Day and the Boys in Blue give me a 35 demerit points for a New Year's present

Thanks brown mouse, but I did find my ride limit for a day ride is around 800 to 1000 km, I will not be doing it again it was hard by the end of the ride.

Yes, I would say money well spent, when I got the bike, it came with the standard seat not the Triumph Tour seat, I could get about 400km on standard seat before my body started telling me that it had enough, very happy with the Corbin seat money well spent and it looks bloody great. Cheers

Yes it was a straight 27-hour ride but must say the last 3 hours of the ride was hard,

Well done! Personally I don't really see the point of doing a ride that long in one go. It is dangerous as much as anything! Surely it is better to split it over 2-3 days so you can enjoy the ride and take in the scenery. I find that after 2 hours of riding, my concentration starts to reduce and my riding isn't as good as a result, and I run 10Ks and half marathons.

Thanks for the well-done part of your post but I feel I should respond to your other comments, It is as dangerous as you will let it be, the last quarter of the ride I had stops more time over this shorter period of riding than any other part of the ride, I'm so glad Sir Edmund Hillary didn't listen people! now I can use his saying "Knocked the bastard off" I enjoy the scenery but in a shorter time frame and was still impressed with this beautiful country. As a runner from years ago any run under 22km is not hard to prepare for but a Marathon is a hold different ball game, I hit the wall at 40km so the last 2km of the Marathon were very hard but what got me to finish line was the mental strength. Some people what to push the boundary by riding at high speed, well that's not for me I have conquered ride I wanted to do for years and at 63 I was runny out of time to do a long-distance ride. Cheers John

Each to their own I guess. I like to take my time and take in the sights and scenery and stay in some nice hotels and eat great food along the way.

I did the London Marathon in 1986 in 3 hours. I am currently 65 and can do a 10K in 45 minutes. I did a half Marathon in October in 1:54 with only cross training on a bicycle due to a persistent Achilles injury. You're right a Marathon is a very serious run and I am not sure I would be able to manage it today unless I changed my training for it. Currently all my training is for 5K and 10K runs which I try to run as fast as possible. I am certainly within the top 100 runners in the UK for my age. I still have some targets to aim for before my speed drops off the inevitable cliff. Currently I have a few Veterans trophies obtained in and around the Buckinghamshire area, something I wasn't expecting to achieve at my age.

    Here is my Speedmaster:

Nice Bike! is that a grey tank or is it just the way the lights is reflecting? if it's a grey tank looks good!!

I'm very impressed in your times 3-hour Marathon dam good my best over 3.36 hours best half was 1.32 but that was years ago, my daughter runs so have to tell her your story, my hat goes off to you, well good to hear you are still running! We do have different riding styles; 400 to 1000 km day ride make me smile "It's not the destination it the journey" well that's me anyway,

    Cheers

Thanks Jacknzone. My Speedmaster is a 2022 Gold Line edition. It was ordered in October 2021 and delivered in June 2022 and only came in that silver colour with a black stripe over the top of the tank. Only a few were available here in the UK for 2022. In 2023 they are only offering the chrome tank version, so mine is quite rare in the scheme of things.

My fastest half marathon was in 1985 at the Canvey Island Half and it is a very flat course. I did a 1:18 back then. If I am able to do a half this year I will be aiming for around 1:45. I might be able to go quicker but I would need to lose at least a stone in weight, which is probably not going to happen... :(

I agree with you. It's the journey that is important.
