Anyone have a recommendation on a waterproof jacket for a 5'9 255lb guy? Usually wear 48r suit jackets, but i've been finding that a lot of nice lookinh jackets wont fit my beer gut :sob:

Expensive but imo Rukka kit is the best waterproof kit on the market. You will never be wet wearing this kit:)

Have you thought about over-jacket and trousers? A lot cheaper than dedicated waterproof jackets like the Rukka gear and you can wear your normal bike gear underneath. I use Scott two-piece waterproof jacket & trousers. Slightly stretchy so you get a good fit, 100% waterproof and breathable (so no sweaty bits), fold up small and easily stowed, trousers have zippered sides so easy to put on over boots and cost around £90 each. Got mine from Motolegends. Had them for 18 months with no issues.
Unless you're planning on doing a lot of riding in inclement weather I'd go for the less-expensive but very effective option.
Whatever you decide have a look at the Motolegends website, there's lots of useful advice regarding waterproof kit.

Like Wessa I'd be inclined to go for a two piece waterproof oversuit rather than buying more kit (unless you live in a particularly wet area). It's probably not worth me giving any recommendations as I'm the wrong side if the Atlantic for you but hopefully a few of the US members can steer you right ;)
    Good luck

My experience with "waterproof " jackets is that they are not, especially after a few years. The waterproof membrain usually cracks and in the end they all leak.
I am now using a modern waxed cotton jacket made by Merlin in the UK.
So far very good but time will tell.
As someone above said, you can't go far wrong with a Rukka two piece oversuit.

I've been dawning a Goretex jacket but Klim that has served me well thru most rains. This is my 4th season and this jacket (Overland - discontinued) and I've treated it once and still keeps me dry in the heaviest down pours. Of course I usually seek cover when it's really intense. The Klim overpants also do well. They are readily available however the jacket has a replacement. Well worth the investment.
Good luck in your search. There are sizes for everyone.

I have cheap 2 piece Acerbis MX waterproofs that fit over my normal gear when it rains, they don’t take up much space and have managed to survive 70MPH on the motorway.

I did have a Belstaff one piece that lost its waterproofness and was hard to get on and off.

Scott weatherproof jacket and trousers. Breathable and has a certain amount of stretch…awesome kit and not too expensive
