Now the eagle eyed will note differences in the number of parts being refurbed as some were added after the 1st pic. although there is still more to do ;)

Took advantage of the sun to have a second riding day this week :) Headed up to the Peak District this time and took some new-to-me roads to get there. Stopped for lunch at The Old Smithy in Monyash where there was a couple dozen other bikes then headed up to Hope valley area before wending my way home.

That’s a view down on Castleton.

Loads of unclassified back roads in the PD which is just as well as the main routes can get very busy in good weather.
Still quite a few green lanes left too but they're constantly under threat from the NIMBY's.
That looks like Mam Tor, Win Hill and Lose Hill in the background there.

So I'm getting rid of the standard mirrors on the Street twin and going to bar ends.

Top clamp with boss is the original.

Luckily today I managed to purchase x4 half clamps without the boss. Three are identical and the other one is very near.
These will be blasted and powdercoated satin black to blend in with everything else making a far neater job.

Obviously I will only be using two of the below but I usually buy more than I need to then have spares for future ideas. Currently I have at least four tail lights for this bike; don't ask!

If Google maps is correct, Lose Hill is on the right and Mam Tor is on left. Me and Mrs Mouse walked up and around that in bike gear in hot weather a couple of years ago.

Win Hill is out of shot quite a bit to the right. Before I got the bike we once went to Hope by train and walked up and over that to stay at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn near Ladybower Reservoir.

I think you're right. The hilltop in the distant background just to the right of Mam Tor must be The Nab. My Mum has relatives in Leek and I can remember going up Mam Tor in the car in the '60's when the road was still open. It never stopped open for more than a few months at a time due to land slips and was continually being patched up and repaired. It's not known as the "Shivering Mountain" for nothing. As I remember, back then the road up Winnats Pass was very narrow and very much a second choice!

A bit chilly but it still was a beautiful morning in North Texas to go get new rubber for the Speed Twin.

I took Fri afternoon off and rode up to Krazy Horse near Chipping Norton to look at some MVs. It may have been the last sunny day before the misery of endless slime and grit over winter. It was a gorgeous ride and not even that cold. They had some lovely custom Indians there and a nice MV Agusta Dragster which caught my eye. I might do a test ride on a Brutale which is very similar to the Dragster, but on the ride home my Thruxton 1200 was so nice I can't see myself changing.

Some of the MVs have great styling and curb appeal and have to be one of the best lookers out there.....but one review I read said the gearboxes weren't great, as in not as smooth and precise as some other brands.
Part supply at one time was a joke but I'm led to believe that's improved now but do your own research before any commitment ;)

Well, I just went out of curiosity really, and as I say riding home on my Thruxton made me want to keep it anyway. But I do think MVs have come along quite a lot recently.

On my list of things to do to the Street twin.

Can you give us some real world feedback from before and after once it's up and running?

Checked the tyre pressures and popped the cover back over the T120.
Matt black everything and winter rural weather don’t mix.
KTM 690 with new adventure tyres will be my occasional quick ride until March, unless we get a freak dry period with no salt left on the roads.

I put one in a thruxton 1200. Honestly it wasn't a huge difference, biggest difference was at the top of the rev range. That was the 1200 though. The earlier 900's (before they got the power upgrade) should be a nice upgrade. It would certainly be one of the first things on my list! Relatively cheap power if you plan on installing it yourself. Put a decat high on your list too!

    Decat done.
    KN filter done.
    Snorkel off.
Vance and Hines need some work but part of the ongoing restoration.

Cam yet to purchase but this bike hasn't been ridden anywhere by me yet other than 100 metres to the trailer :joy:

I'm not in a rush and spring 2023 looks like a suitable target.

In the meantime I'm looking forward to mot'ing my Armstrong mt500 for the winter months around the local lanes. Naturally being a British bike it comes with the proverbial essential oil leak that needs resolving before it totally trashes the block paving

A little bit of playing on the lathe tonight. I had to be snappy as wanted to watch MotoGP at 22.00 so decided to tackle the ugly rear shocker washers, see what you think.....

    Before.

    20221107_212037.jpg

So found out some aluminium bar of a suitable diameter and machined one up.

    After.

    20221107_211844.jpg

Quite pleased with that one so did a quick batch of x4 and inside in time for bike racing ;)

Put the TEC cam in my Street Cup. It makes a world of difference.

Had my MV for 16 years and apart from a new battery and a duff spark plug it hardly missed a beat. Best bike I have ever owned, but running costs are generally not cheap"
