    Hi there.
Just got a message from my dealer where I store my Street Twin that I have to change front brake pads.
Haven't checked them before he picked up my bike so I haven't seen them. The problem is that my bike has done just 9K km since new so I think that it is a bit early.
I know that it depends on driving style but I do not brake often I think and have rather straight road to work with very few lights and intersection.

What are your thoughts and experiences. How long your front pads lasts? Should I go for OEM pads again or change to some other brand and compound?

    Cheers.

My 765 at around 6k looked like it would need new fronts in the coming months so I bought x2 sets and put them on the shelf ready.
Sods law intervened quite laughably soon after and a bulletin circulated saying there was a recall on all Brembo pads and so if I dropped it into a main dealers then Triumph would replace them free of charge :joy:

My last pads lasted 5500 miles but then I have done 4 track days. I've switched to SBS RS compound pads. They are definitely sharper than the Brembos, but not sure how long they will last.

My Tracer 700 has done 10,000 Miles on it's first set of pads and there's lots of life left in them yet. All depends on how you use your brakes. Dealers can just be out to make extra money from you, they're not always honest or they might feel the pads will not last to the next service. Changing pads is quite easy. You can watch youtube videos about it then have a go yourself maybe ?

I know that's why I asked about pictures. I've looked at them in the sommer and was a plenty life left derfor I haven't checked now before winter storage. This is why I do not trust dealers. They always try to squeeze ekstra $$$

Wise words indeed, do not trust dealers.

My car is always serviced at home but the 1st service, with it being so new, I felt obliged for the warranty to put it into the main dealers. There was nothing wrong with the car as it had only 12k miles on it but would you believe it, when I went to collect it the rear wiper needed replacing :joy:

Hi PT, there was a recall on all machines fitted with Brembo brakes, immaterial of the manufacturer or machine model, the risk was the friction material detaching itself, check that your machine is eligible. As to how long pads last a lot depends on riding style, I have a STRS and ride it somewhat spirited and the pads have minimal wear, having covered 12k, also be aware that for example fitted high friction sintered pads (AA rating) can wear out discs prematurely, normal riding you should be getting a lot more mileage out of your pads than the mileage you say.

The front pads on my Tiger 900 were changed at 8600 miles and again at 17800 miles. They are easy enough to change yourself
