I haven't seen that movie in years, @Dawsy! A good one to revisit. :) We could use a few laughs here lately. And there are lots of older movies that are fun to revisit.

Thanks for that recommendation, Markus! Mr. Sandi said that he's read that the new Top Gun is great fun. Evidently it received a standing ovation when it was shown at the Cannes Film Festival recently.

After seeing TopGun {& paying big money for the "had to have" VHS tape}, I found "Maverick" too predictable, zzzz'd thru sum of it... did like the Silver Porch.

"The Gray Man". Lots of blood'n'guts. Pretty good.

Watched The Grey Man and Top Gun Maverick at the weekend.

Both good, it's unusual for me to sit through a film so two must be good

I really enjoyed "Top Gun Maverick" a month or so ago. Great fun.

Shortly after that I was scrolling through the TV guide looking for those fringe films that don't get much recognition and I found on Film4 a brilliant Japanese film "Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes".

It's just over an hour long and terrific fun; suspend your brain stretched "what!!! How!!!" reaction in the first 10 minutes and go with the story. It's in Japanese with subtitles and the dialogue is fast moving, so don't try to eat a TV dinner with it or you'll soon lose track of what's going on

It looks like it may have been a student project (judging by the behind-the-scenes footage in the credits, which like the film are well worth watching. The attention to detail by the crew and actors is really impressive.

Well worth streaming if you can find it, I think my daughter told me it was on Amazon.

Saw Top Gun Maverick this past Saturday night on "the big screen" and really enjoyed it! Amazingly, it's the first movie that Mr. Sandi and I have seen in a movie theater since November of 2019. So watching Top Gun Maverick was made even more exciting by being in a theater!

I thought it was cool that Maverick rode the same model Kawasaki at the start of the movie and then rode Kawasaki's latest and greatest thing during the rest of the movie. Check this out: https://www.autoweek.com/car-life/c...ce-again-rides-kawasaki-ninja-in-new-top-gun/

As a woman with long hair who rides motorcycles, however, I just have to say that there's NO WAY that Jennifer Connelly could return from a helmet-less ride with Tom Cruise with her hair flowing and untangled. If I did that I'd be cutting knots out for days! :p

I saw the same film on Friday in the cinema. A bit OTT and Hollywood in places but we enjoyed it. Glad you’re back in the cinema Sandi. It makes an occasion of seeing a film rather than just flopping in front of the TV..( but you probably wore less comfy shoes..! )

I totally agree about seeing a film at the cinema rather than just flopping on the sofa in front of the tube, @Oldskool! WAY more enjoyable in many ways to see a movie that way--big screen, great sound system, other patrons with whom to share the excitement (or shush if they are talky), and perhaps the best of all, the glorious smell of popcorn! It was great to be back at the movies and I thought Top Gun Maverick was a great way reenter the cinema scene. :grinning: Oh, and you're right about the shoes. Well, not technically I guess as I usually wear no shoes at all when I watch a film at home. ;):joy:

"Operation Mincemeat" on Amazon Prime, the story of how the British tricked the Germans into believing the Allies would invade Greece and not Sicily by the use of false papers on a dumped dead body off the coast of Spain.

Technically a remake of the 1956 film "The man who never was" (based on the 1953 book of the same name by Ewan Montagu, the intelligence officer behind the scheme).

I took my 2 daughters (12 and 14) to see Black Adam last night. Was good to be out at the cinema, but agree with Aaron on his verdict... I wanted to enjoy the film, but it was a bit meh.

I'm watching the complete James Bond series. I already own them on Blue Rays since 2015 but never had time to watch.
