Went to the BSB finale at Brands today. Great racing and the track was packed - a sell out I would guess. However, despite the thousands of fans sporting their favourite bike hoodies, paddock jackets etc., it was comical to note that 4/5 of the gigantic field car park was filled with cars, with only a few hundred bikes at most. The last time I went was in the summer and the opposite was true! Shame as it was a really nice dry day for a ride.
Hi Obi, Likewise I was there today. (In my car,sorry) I think it was far busier last year. Maybe down to Ray confirmed as champion yesterday??? Agree that there were relatively few bikes there. Mind you it did rain as soon as the last race finished, so was glad to be in a metal box. Glad not to be on the Trident in the pissing rain on a busy M25 in the dark. Cheers.
Still quite a bit of biking activity on weekends in and around the Peak District. I guess the first frosts and the start of the annual salt spreading festival will thin them out a bit.
Apropos of nothing…. I’ve always wanted to go to BSB at Cadwell. Y’all are lucky to have great racing like BSB that is so accessible. Here in the States we have nothing that good as far as a national series goes, and our tracks are far apart because the country is so damn big. Going to Austin Texas to watch MotoGP is a long, long trip.
Hello jet city. On the way to Bsb I was saying to my son how lucky we are to live about an hour from Brands Hatch, an hour and a half from Donington and half an hour from Silverstone . A bit too far to Caldwell Park though at 3 hours. I was saying to him that it is tough for those in UK who live in the North or West Country, with no major circuits nearby. Or am I wrong.....
I’ve been to several rounds of BSB this year, by bike..! But to get to Brands Hatch is a dull boring journey around the M25. No fun at all on a bike. I didn’t go this weekend as the championship was all but sewn up and most of the support classes and also been won, so stayed at home and got a few jobs done. I love Brands Hatch. The viewing is superb and it has its own atmosphere. Being so close to London it is usually well supported. The Fogarty era was just superb, a sea of red shirts and capacity crowds… See you there next spring. I will be in the car…
