I picked this up today. Something to tinker with through the winter months, 20221001_134929.jpg although to be honest mechanically it's very good.

Very underrated bikes those and, until the first, slab sided GSXR1100 came along, capable of holding their own against the litre+ bikes of the day. Released, in part, as an answer to Yamaha and Suzuki's 500 strokers and to pay homage to the success of Honda's NS500 with the peerless Freddie Spencer onboard. They never really sold in big numbers compared to more mainstream bikes so that's a good find!:)

I'm looking forward to seeing what your "tinkering" through the winter months leads to with your new find so please keep us posted, @johne! Hope you enjoy the new bike. Congrats on the new addition.

It's quite insane. Clutch and suspension are hard but the exhaust note is adicting!

    HA!
It wants to go fast all the time. Throttle is twitchy and it really wants to be above 7000 rpm. I got it up to 95mph in 2nd gear and it had not reached the red line.
I ride a 2022 Speed Twin which I've always found to be torquey but the Brutale has 212hp and all the revs.
However, it does cost USD30,000.00 and it's too much of a hassle to be enjoyed in a relaxed manner.

Did a bit of light service work on my ninja: oil and filter, rear brake pads, fluid checks, all that jazz...

Discovered that the front left turn signal wasn't working. Bulb was good. Pulled off about 5000 pieces of fairing plastic to get to the wiring, and found that the connector had come loose. Fixed that, which fixed the light. Then I did the fairing jigsaw dexterity puzzle in reverse to put it back together, amazingly without any pieces missing, and without finding that I had any pieces left over when I thought I was done.

Even more amazingly, the turn signal still worked once I had the bike back together (tricksy little bastards love to play gremlin games sometimes).

As a reward for both of us, I took it out for a nice little spin on some of my favorite local sets of twisties, and then to dinner, and then put it back on the battery tender...
