Short-ish ride today, about 80 miles. Weather cheered up no end, so we were happy bunnies. A littlle stop on the way. On to the next stop, making some progress... After that it was on to our hotel, where Steve checked us in and we bu@@ered off to Andorra for some lunch. Coming back we parked our bikes in the courtyard. Pretty terrace. Nice avenue in town. And now, this will come as no surprise...
Yep, today was pretty awesome. Great riding, fantastic views. Nearly got ran off the road in the twisties by a bunch of hooligans in Lamborghinis/Ferraris/Porsches though. Absolute tw@ts. Bikes safely back at the hotel. Thirsty now!
This morning I said my goodbyes to Steve with whom I had a great week, and set off to France. I got out of Andorra over the mountains rather than the tunnel. Sadly no piccies as the pass was covered in clouds. Further down the scenery was quite different from the last week. lots of little country roads until I got to Carcassonne. From there it was swift N - roads to St. Jean de Minervois, where a mate has a B&B. My digs are quite luxureous, and the views stunning. Had a great meal, and an excellent time catching up over a couple of drams.
Yep had to say goodbye to Wim (@Vulpes) on Friday morning. As he has said a brilliant week of riding, eating and drinking. It cannot be beaten. I decided I would not ride on Friday, instead I chilled out for the day. I took the bike to a jet wash as it was filthy and gave it a clean, got fuel in preparation for my trip back to Jaca today (Saturday). On Friday evening I was invited to dinner by two Swiss bikers who Wim and I had met the previous day. There English was far better than my Swiss, so we got a long just fine. Fed and water we headed back to the hotel for a farewell drink. Reto is on my right and Franz is on my left. A great couple of guy’s who like all of us love biking.
I’ve lost count of days, but having said goodbye to Wim yesterday I set of for Jaca today. Another lively ride out of the mountains and into the foothills again. Thanks Nikki
Today (Saturday) I headed for Jaca once again. The day started quite cold having me wish I had put my lining my in my jacket. Anyway it warmed up my mid morning adding to another wonderful ride in and around the foothills of the Pyrenees. I eventually got to my hotel, checked in and headed into town for some food. Only two more days left on my trip as tomorrow I head towards Santander ready for my ferry on Monday.
After an excellent nights sleep I had a quiet coffee outside. Fantastic morning view. Had breakfast with and said goodbye to my mate, and off I went. Next stop was the Millau Viaduct, which I'd wanted to see. Very impressive. I then just rode on until I got tired. Booked a room in Chalon-sur-Saome, just south of Dijon. Now I'm happily watching the world go by... Today's route, 335 miles. Off to Germany tomorrow.
Hit the road today to a clear and sunny (if chilly) morning. Today's trip should have been 325 miles to a mate in Germany. However, when nearly there, he cancelled due to an emergency. Nice scenery there. This left me with a choice - find a hotel there, or push on home. An additional 200 miles. Still feeling fit, I opted for the latter. Unfortunately an hour in it started to rain, which did not let up until nearly home. When I got home mrs V had already opened the garage door for me and put out dry clothes... A bit of a haul today... 525 miles. Safe home though, having travelled a total of 2.596 miles It's been a brilliant trip, thanks so much to Steve @Wessa for his excellent company and riding tips. Vulpes signing off.
