They'll never be another like her. She had more dignity and integraty than any politician could ever hope to have.

    Indeed.

I remember observing to Mrs RevPaul as we were watching people arrive at St Paul’s Cathedral for the service of thanksgiving during the Platinum Jubilee weekend this summer that the Queen (especially) and the way Britain celebrates with such historic understated excellence, combined with our self deprecating humour is why I was proud to be British. Then Mr and Mrs Boris walked up the steps to the cathedral to clamorous jeers (he brazenly tried to smile and wave off the well deserved criticism) and I observed there’s the reason why I’m often ashamed to be British.

Never ashamed to be a Yorkshireman, followed by an Englishman followed by a Britishman followed by a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, quite often ashamed of politicians, the media, and some members of the Royal family.

Well once again we see the British Military do what they do best. No other country can come close to what we've seen on the box. They are the best. Full Stop.

I guess there will always be the Monarchy vs Republic arguement (I'm firmly in the first camp) but you can't fail to be impressed by today's proceedings. You're looking at almost 1000 years of history here. I have no link to Scotland, other than it being a favourite holiday destination and an intense love of the Bagpipes but I freely admit had a lump in my throat on several occasions today.
God bless the Queen and God save the the King.

The one exception I would give to that would be Sir Winston Churchill who also recieved a State Funeral. You just can't imagine, in your wildest dreams, any of the current bunch of muppets getting the same honour.

To my shame, I forgot about Churchill. But I'm in 100 percent agreement with you in you latter comment.
