Time to move on so CBX is for sale. Thought i`d never say that but here we are. 1979 CBX1000Z ,UK bike. I`ve known of the bike for nearly 30years. Last 2 owners ,like me hardly used the bike. Just under 22,000 miles(i`ve owned it 13 years & about 4,000 miles). Paint by Dream Machine & Delkevic full exhaust system 6 years ago but bikes done less than 2k since then. Good tyres(but i would change them soon due to ageof 6years) C&Sprockets have loads of life left. Tax & MOT Exempt but i still have it MOT`d every year. £15,000ovno. PM me if interested Thanks Mick
Yes lovely, I'm very tempted as I had one the same back in the day. Has it had any engine work done? I recall they were prone to exhaust valve damage.
HAHA Valve damage was down to your right wrist more than a fault. Once i got carbs sorted by a pro years ago its not missed a beat.
I'm sure yours is fine but I've seen several with top end issues : Looking to buy a CBX-- What issues to look for? - The International CBX Owners Association (cbxclub.com)
The guys analysis was spot on. If they are well looked after with regular oil changes, the CBX engine is a peach. I looked at several, a few years back when the prices weren't quite so high, and out of 5 examples I checked out, only 1 I would've considered buying. Like any bike they have their achillies heels, but they are cracking bikes that sound ace when you get the right one. Micks looks superb, but the reason I haven't been on the blower to you mate is because I'm now 63 and they are heavy beasts by modern standards, I'm still tempted though. It does look very nice mate. Good luck with your sale.
Like any bike, ya gotta look after them & this one has not had a hard life. 500ish miles a year etc. She`s been great to own. I`ve had one brake light switch go & a coil thats it. Yes she is heavy to move around but like em all once you get going its not a problem. Just dont ride a modern bike 10mins before you get on a 70`s "superbike"? Cuz the brakes are shi$e!!!
Wicked noise! I remember in the early 80's there was a guy who regularly raced at Flookburgh running a CBX in a sidecar outfit. Had a yellow 6 into 1 which sounded delicious
Good luck with the sale, @STIFFLER. The bike looks beautiful. Why did you ride it so little, if I may ask?
Good luck with the sale, @STIFFLER. The bike looks beautiful. Why did you ride it so little, if I may ask? Hi Sandi, Sorry for the delay as ive been busy with work. Ive always had two or three bikes(FJ1200/Blackbird/ZX10Tomcat/Daytona`s) & because time is short it got polished more than used I spent 4k on it years ago then got to the stage i was scared to get it dirty. More sunshine would seen it used more. I willl be sorry to see it go.
