My 900gt Pro is booked in for a service at 5000miles before a trip of 2500miles. The dealer says the throttle bodies need balancing! It runs fine just don't like the idea of all the bodywork and tank being removed by some clumsy technician. What are your thoughts....any body had them done,

You do understand all that stuff will be removed for the service you've booked it in for anyway?

I know it would be done for the 12000 when the valves are done, should I wait till then?

I could be wrong but is the balancing all done via computer now?

I just bought and received the Dealer Tool. Plugged it in, ran tests and one of the tests was throttle body balance. My Street Triple was on the money.

For about $80 U.S. you'll know whether or not the technician needs to tear into your moto. Simple to use and great support if you have dumb questions like I did.

Hi Yes it Can be checked by computer to see whether or not they need adjustment but if its running ok why bother, who knows if your dealer will charge an extra £80-£100 for saying they've removed bodywork and tank to adjust them.....perhaps I don't trust anyone?

My 900 gt went in for first annual service at 4300 miles a few weeks ago and to be fair to the dealer he said that the bike needed a 5000 but as the throttle bodies would be accessible he told me that he would check them over and would only charge me extra if work was needed. When I picked tke Tiger up he told no extra charge as all was okay. The standard service cost was the Triumph fixed price at just over £250 which was a lot of money for basically an oil and filter change and a lot of checks. Got the official stamp on the service book so no complaints. A good honest main dealer.

The dealer said that without having a look at the bike ? hmm
I doubt that would be needed
Mine has 35000 km and it has never needed to be rebalanced
I have the dealer tool and the vacuum amount the three is always very close if not equal

Thanks for that. It's reassuring you can trust a dealer. Thanks again.
