    Hi all,

I bought some standard bits from Evotech and everything was going fine until I tried to fit the rectifier cover. The pictures on the instruction sheet show standard bolts rather than the M8 hex bolts that the bike actually has but that’s a minor point. My issue is that no matter how long I undo them for, they never seem to actually come out. Has anyone else experienced this or have any tips for a complete imbecile like me?

Are there nuts on the back?

I hope not as there is a piece of plastic covering it from under the seat which isn’t removable. That was my thought but if they have sealed in the nuts then it seems a little silly.

The Evotech kit comes with M6 cap screws according to their instructions but you say that that original fasteners are M8? The type of head isn't significant but the diameter obviously is. I would contact Evotech with your problem as I have found them to be very helpful. Have you tried pulling the bolts as you try to extract them as they may just be snagging on something.

I have installed the rectifier cover on my new Speedy RR, recently. You have to use the longer bolts coming with the Evotech cover and counter the small nuts (10 mm) under the seat. It is quiet fiddly - I removed the seat cover and the seat. After that I had to loosen up the plastic cover covering the small nuts and holding some electric cables, so I could work with a small 10 mm ring wrench.

It will be easier with two people - one holding and countering one nut, preventing to slip it down the plastic cover. The other one tightening the bolt with a ratchet equipped wit a long bit. I managed it alone, but took me 30 min. for this small cover...

    Greetings from Germany

Thanks Stue007, that's perfect and exactly what I had to do. Looks like there isn't a plastic nut shaped retainer on the back side which would really have helped. My 10 year old daughter came to the rescue and held the bolts in place while i finger tightened the nuts. Additional word of warning to anyone else doing this, the nuts are so small and fiddly that they are easy to drop and lose under the battery : unamused: so that's another job for another day.
