I want to fit some louder but not offensively loud pipes yo my 2011 SE. Norman Hyde seem to be the most popular, are there any other options I should look at? Also, is it essential to remove the air injection system? I have read that it shouldn't be removed from early EFI bikes which I guess 2011 probably is.
I fitted Norman Hyde pipes to my 2013 se when I had it. Glorious tone. I initially left the SAI standard. Had to remove it ( no ill effects ) because I used to get huge backfires on the overrun and when left ticking over for a while with thr togas.
I've got a 2012 Bonneville with Norman Hyde pipes, sounds a treat. I've still got the air injection on mine which doesn't cause me any issues, it may or may not have been remapped by the previous owner I've been told it may have been but I bought it from a shop so don't know for sure.
That's a good point. I've got a receipt for mine being remapped in 2013. I've no idea what map it's running now. It had stock pipes when I bought it so assumed it had the stock map but who knows. I'll get the pipes on and see what happens.
When I bought mine the shop had refitted the standard pipes and gave me the Norman Hyde ones separately to fit myself, as well as sounding better the Hyde pipes made the bike noticably more responsive with the exception that if you gave it a big fistful from tickover it could bog down but I soon learnt to open the throttle a bit more gently at first.
Hi, I have a 2015 t100 I initially had standards pipes then swapped to triumph TOR pipes with recommended remap. It sounded roughly the same on tickover but throaty and louder up the rev range. I then swapped to Norman Hyde togas keeping the tor remap and the sound changed again. Deeper rumble on tickover and next level throaty up the rev range. Lots of popping on the over run when you shut the throttle. To recap. If you want a subtle improvement on sound then TOR’s if you want to be noticed togas. Hope this helps.
I fitted NH Togas to my 2011 SE they sounded fantastic straight away but the bike ran a little ropey. I messed about with different MAPS from TuneECU in an attempt to get the bike running better but I was never happy with any of the MAPS. To get the best out of them I ended up purchasing Tune 3 from TTP, I also removed all the emissions rubbish (SAI and Lambda sensors) and fitted a NH Bell Mouth and removed the baffle from the air box. Now I've got the bike I should have got straight out of the showroom. It pulls to the red line in any gear like a train and there is none of that on off throttle thing happening at low revs. I also ran the NH Pea shooters for a while. Again these sounded great but different to the Togas, I do prefer the look and sound of the Togas though.
