It not just young lasses, it’s a worrying trend throughout. The cheaper and more available some of these injections are in beauty parlours and the like, the more people drift towards the plastic expressionless look, it’s so unnatural! And of course I agree with a person’s body autonomy (there’s a lot of folk wouldn’t like my tattoos) but I do think it’s a shame when it’s taken so far that they suffer a permanent disfigurement that I’m pretty certain was not the intended result.
I need to vent somewhere, or talked down from my red mist... One of my colleagues is going to work tomorrow (we are on a helpdesk and work from home); even though she is COVID positive and feels poorly, but 'ok'. It's just the two of us - not a big service. I feel really strongly that she shouldn't work. Our manager doesn't expect her to. I don't expect her to. But she feels 'shes well enough'. I don't think we need a hero (it's certainly not critical work). Perhaps I just feel guilty as I'd happily take the 5 days we're allowed. Anyway....it irks me. People fought hard for our "benefit" of paid sick pay. It's like not taking allocated annual leave - also hard fought for. Maybe I'm just a grumpy bastard. Rant over.
What does that convert to in U.S. dollars and gallons, Dougie?? I know you all are paying way more for me but I'm always curious just how much. It helps me quit my b*tching when I go to the pump. Especially with my Mustang. Yeah, a problem of my own making.
the US gallon has only 3.78 litres as apposed to the UK gallon which has 4.54 litres, For a US Gallon we would be paying just under £8.00 (9.69 us dollars) if its £2.00 a litre
Thanks for doing the math, Dougie. Wow, that's far more than we're paying here in Arizona. But there are some places in California where prices are comparable to that $9.69 per gallon. And amazingly it doesn't seem to be changing peoples driving habits! Or flying habits either for that matter.
I find this site useful for comparing fuel prices: https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/ So last week, a litre of 95 octane was on average 1.35 USD in the US and 2.33 in the UK. Lucky you, it was 2.68 in my country. And my Thunderbird feeds on 98.
Seriously...I didn't go out for a Sunday pootle around yesterday, as its a luxury I can't afford. Are "they" winning...? It is too much change, happening too quickly, and with no choice; and it is becoming (if it isn't already) divisive.
Not the most recent fill, but it’s getting up there. I know this is cheap compared to other parts of the world. It still sucks though. I do plan my trips out more and don’t go out needlessly. As for Dolly, love her any way she wants to be, her choice. I read a quote of hers I love, “It takes a lot of time and money to look this cheap, honey,” It’s a business decision she made a long time ago and has worked for her.
I appreciate the solidarity, but we're working from home. Maybe she isn't that poorly - not everyone gets ill just because they have a positive result. But there's something about the virtue signalling that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.... If that's what it is.
Understand your thought, but if y’all work from home y’all are quarantined. If she works it’s her judgement.
You are entirely right! I think my irritation is likely a reflection on my own poor attitude to work - I wouldn't even contemplate being a hero....I'd sign off for 5 days and be done with!
I don’t like letting people down. The rules say we don’t need to test anymore so how do people know they have it? The rules also say no need to isolate now. I have never in all my working career had a day off sick. I have been off injured three times. It’s always easy in any work place to be able to tell which people are the ones to be regularly off sick. Edit, it does seem that the ones going off sick are the ones that get paid for being off sick. I wonder why that is?
Use public transport they say.........me with a flight to France today, booked train to Birmingham with other colleagues as part of the travel plans.........One and a half hours before train leaves, all trains to Birmingham cancelled today
