    Hi to all Triumph Forum Members.
    Posting this maybe to help other owners avoid.
    My ABS light stayed on checked sensors and ABS rings all seemed well had thoughts of whats caused this, checked and topped up brake fluids in the hope it would help, also bled the brakes in case of air in system but made no difference, took it to a local bike garage and had it plugged in, came back as front wheel sensor on closer inspection mechanic found cable had been running on the front wheel rim, it had slightly ran through the outer cable.
    How had I not noticed that ? But I hadn't cable was through all guides but slack in cable due to riding had left enough slack at wheel end to cause this, in my case a bit tape and feeding slack back up through the guides to the headstock solved the problem, reset light and all ok now, on getting home i also used a three inch piece of fish tank air hose split and placed over cable and taped in place to guard against this happening again, a silly little obvious thing ( in hindsight) but caused a fair bit worry for sure.

    Thank you for posting, it’s something we can easily check for before a ride and when having a cleaning session.

    Does the forum have a section on motorcycle dealers/garages that would help support those who had good experience or would recommend in folks to go to in their area?

    Hi Tez, when you bled the brakes did you purge the ABS pump, this can only be done either by using Tune Boy (or similar) from your laptop, or taking it to a Triumph dealer who will use the Triumph factory unit to purge the pump, otherwise the ABS pump will still have old fluid in and it will re circulate around the system.

    Hi @Iceman , to be honest i bled the system myself in the old fashioned way after reading many forum posts on the subject of bleeding ABS brakes, on the theory that it would eventually bleed through, then if bike was ridden and abs applied during heavy braking, and the bleed repeated,
    But it wasn't down to air in the system and now all is well.:cool:
    If old fluid remains in the system I'm sure it will be in a small amount as not to cause an issue, don't mind repeating the bleed process as I'm sure it would have been replaced in pump by now and would eventually run through system.

    Hi Tez, the main issue is how long the fluid was in your machine before you bled the system, the fluid has hygroscopic properties, meaning that it absorbs moisture during its life in your machine through the pipes, hoses and joints that it lubricates. The old fluid remaining inside the ABS pump will still be there, hence computer software will be needed to remove it from the system. Over time these hygroscopic fluids will damage the expensive ABS pump components. Most motorcycle ABS pumps are not equipped with bleeders, hence the need to use a scan tool to cycle the pump and valves. The scan tool is mainly required for activating the pump and cycling the valves to bleed out these areas. You may be fine with what you have done, personally I would never risk compromising the braking on car or motorcycle, it's just not worth taking the risk. If you don't have the software to do it yourself it may be worth considering having your dealer do it, this costs about £40, either way you do get peace of mind.
