Hi. I'm sure it may have been noted by some people that the stock rear shocks are pretty poor. What is the best choice for up to about £250?
I'm not expecting super precise superbike handling, decent ride quality would be nice though.

You could do worse that look at a set of Hagon's. I replaced the rear shock on my VFR800 with a Hagon. It was better than the original and very well made.

Thanks. I did speak to Hagon earlier, I think I might go for a set of their mid range, 2810 shocks.

I put a set of 2810's on my 2018 Street Twin, nice shock. Many folks do not try adjusting the sag and rebound, but you should, in incremental steps for 3 or 4 rides. It really makes you appreciate better shocks.

Fortunately, years of downhill mountain bike racing taught me how to set up suspension so some tinkering will be done once they're fitted.

Another vote for hagon 2810's. Put a pair on my bonneville when I had it. Not exactly ohlins plushness but appreciably better that the stock offerings.

Thanks for the tips. I've ordered a pair of Hagon 2810 shocks direct from Hagon. They seem nice and friendly and helpful which is unusual these days. They're very busy though so it'll be two weeks before I get them.
I'm considering doing the fork springs and oil as well now. I could easily get carried away with the upgrades if I'm not careful.

Hagon 2810 fitted. A vast improvement.
