Mr. Sandi and I watched the Netflix documentary, Schumacher, tonight. I knew very little about Michael Schumacher previously and I really liked this movie. Great old photos and footage and some very interesting interviews and perspectives. But what a tragic conclusion.
Drive to survive has massively increased the interest levels in F1 in America.and I mean massively…..Tickets for the F1 races in the USA are now hugely over subscribed . Before this series it was a long way down the American motor racing fans preferred racing championship list. I did enjoy the first 3 series and have yet to find the time for the last series…..it’s on my planner….
Mr. Sandi saw that there's slated to be an F1 race in Las Vegas in 2023. We'd love to go but I'd bet it would be exceedingly to difficult to get tickets. And I'm not sure it would be the best idea to go to the inaugural race on The Strip. That said, it would sure be fun!!!
I watched "Schumacher" today. Well made, I think. Funny though, that his antics were seen as "brilliant driving" whilst our man Max Verstappen's, which are not dissimilar, are branded "too agressive and dangerous". It's motor racing, not playing checkers.
Watched Battle for the Skies (2013) last night on Freeview Movies Action. Tedious ultra low budget film (without real actors) about a Bomber Command raid on Bremen and the crew's attempt to return home after crash landing. Bit of an insult to the real men of Bomber Command.
Mr. Sandi DVR'd this weekends coverage of F1 at Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Tonight we watched Qualifying coverage. It was really fun to watch it after seeing all the seasons of Drive to Survive. I felt like I halfway knew what was going on!
It's a strange weekend, as there's not usually a sprintrace. Looking good for our man though. I can't watch the sprintrace today as I'm off biking to belgium with 7 mates today... back in time for the race tomorrow though! (Mrs. V is off to the national huntertrials today)
We'll watch the sprint race tomorrow at some point since Mr. Sandi still has the DVR programmed to record. Sometimes he will look up the results ahead of time but he knows I'll kill him if he tells me the outcome before we watch the race. Well, not literally "kill him". Then again....... Is this sprint race thing totally new? Or has it been around and it's just not common to run a race weekend like this?
Been bingeing {YouTube} on anything "Musk". Most truly enjoy his honesty, intellect & understanding. ...Still working to compose a good question to send. https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=Awr...lon-Musk/RK=2/RS=qJmLxPXE3kxN1NmfeOyYyrN74oA-
Just watched SIC The Prince of MotoGP on Sky Documentaries. Really enjoyed it but heartbreaking due to the loss of a true character.
I watched " Band of brothers" , which for some reason I hadn't watched before. Especially the "battle of the bulge" bit I found impressive, having been to the area quite a bit. The @TheBeardedPunk would agree, I guess...
Agreed. I did a Band Of Brothers battle tour in the bulge a couple years ago. The show did a wonderful job, of course some stories are a little exaggerated or adapted for the screen, but very lovely show!
I went to see the memorial in Bastogne a few years ago. Well done and very awe-inspiring. Those boys fought hard for our freedom.
And Bastogne, although best known (thanks to allied propaganda), is not even the best place to visit. Lots of other cool places to go, Manhay, Stavelot,…. I could go on and on.
Watched it three times over the years. Very good. There is a "Pacific" version knocking about but it's nowhere near as good. I've also visited the area and would like to go back some day.
Mr. Sandi and I watched "Dog" tonight. We both loved it. We're both dog people so I don't know if it would resonate as much with folks who aren't. But it seems like the kind of movie anyone would enjoy--whether you love dogs or not.
Tonight we went to The Rex cinema in Berkhamsted , Herts. Our favourite independent cinema. Amazing place. It was showing “The Duke”. with Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. Highly recommended if you’ve not yet seen it. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11204094/mediaviewer/rm1237448961/?ref_=tt_ov_i
Mr. Sandi and I watched Top Gun (1986) tonight in preparation for the release of the new Top Gun which comes out this summer. I hadn't seen it in years and enjoyed it a lot, especially the scenes with the jets. I think I appreciate those more now than I did prior to motorcycles.
At this moment I am watching Airplane. Seen it a million times but still find it hilarious An absolute classic
