Off to Youles (Manchester) this morning to throw my leg over a Speed Twin, Bobber and speedmaster (if they have one in).
Keen to buy a bike with character but it has to be practical and will need to last (that's what I have promised my good lady :)) I am 6' 2", over 60 years old, so comfort is high on the list.
Generally do a tiny portion of Motorway, mostly small A & B roads. Day trips and short tours 3-5 days, mostly UK at the moment but hoping to get to Europe next year.
Would be good to get your feedback and experiences in a few lines

    Thanks in advance

    Jim

    Hi Jim
If you're looking at longer trips then the Bobber might be a challenge (12ltr tank), I would also look at the America and the Thunderbirds (LT, Commander and Storm) ;)

Hi and welcome. I have owed both the speedmaster and speed twin and both are great bikes for different reasons.
The speed twin is a superb machine that rides really well and will give you lots of thrills. It will carry a pillion well, but imo not a great touring bike.
The speedmaster on the other hand is a brilliant touring bike, but you will need to adjust the pillion seat as it is a little on the small side. It took me a while to get used to the forward controls, but once used to them bike does get along well.
I would add looking at the tiger range, both the 1050 and 900 versions. These will do all those things you have mentioned really well for you.:)

@JC59: As Wessa wrote: "... would add looking at the tiger range, both the 1050 and 900 versions. You could alternatively also look at the new TIGER1200, which is a lot lighter than the model before.
