    As per the title really. Just wondered what people thought of taking in some Ukrainians.
    Personally I'm not too keen on having strangers in my house but at the same time I'm very sympathetic to the Ukrainian cause as I guess most people on here will be.

    As our government manages to take thousands of economic young immigrants by the boat load then surely they are the ones to deal with genuine refugees :)

    If I had more room I would have considered it. It is beyond belief what is happening and it is fantastic the response from the brits that are stepping up and taking the refuges in. Good luck to them all and loads of :heart:

    I don't have a free spare room at the moment. If I had, they are welcome.

    In Canada Prime Minister Trudeau is SO close to turning Canada Communist and it's his intention to do so, and for that reason we don't think he will let citizens take in refugees. He can't be trusted any more than Putin, and that's a true story!

    I followed the truckers peaceful protest and was amazed at what levels Klaus Schitwabs little puppet Turdo stooped to with the emergency's acct.

    Like many others, I haven't got the room in my house at the moment. If I did then I would definitely be looking in to it, even more so if I had more than one house/flat that I was renting out for AirBnB or something,

    Yes Tracy and i talked about it. But like has been said you don't know the people. Then you have nerds from the government checking you out and visiting your home. And with our Boy we think it would upset him as he is used to his lifestyle. And to top it all off you are made responsible for their upkeep and care. We will reserve our wish to help. And i do feel for every one of them and as said already rather that than some Calais crusader.
    Joe.

    My main fear is that people will exploit vulnerable refugees seeking safety.

    I applaud you @Adie P , shouldn’t the government use all the seized oligarch’s property as temporary accommodation? I feel you should get more than £350 / month too... at the height of the last migrant crisis, the government was putting the immigrants up in hotels that had been wholly taken over for that purpose. I don’t know, but I cannot believe the hotels were accepting £350 per room per month.

    I'm sure that there's a raft of things that this government could and should be doing to assist with relief from this crisis and, in particular on the humanitarian side of things, but Governments, by their very nature, work more slowly than do events so some of the relief is going to have to come from individuals and/or NGOs. I think most of us have seen the huge efforts being put in by concerned individuals and charities gathering, sorting and even transporting aid, in one form or another across the continent to Poland; Slovakia; Romania etc., so, for my money, THEY are the people that deserve all the praise and support.

    My wife and I have spoken in the past about assisting in some way and we agreed that, if it's practical, we would like to help - the announcement of the Government's financial support wasn't, of itself, a driver as we were both thinking along the same lines. My major concerns are twofold :-

    1) I'm not at all child-centric and am not sure that I could cope medium to long term with a young child as a semi-permanent fixture;

    2) We live in a remote, rural area - no public infrastructure (not even a pub any more!); no shop; no public transport, nearest towns are 8 or so miles away.

    These concerns may or may not figure large in the reckoning as to whom - if anyone - we are able to offer help and support but offer we will. I'd like to think that someone would do the same for us if we were in a similar situation.
