The new tiger is safely home, what a lovely bike to ride. Other than the wind noise from the screen but we will sort that. The other halfs a very happy camper.
You two are a lucky couple - brand new Triumphs for the both of you. Well done - a bit jealous actually
Thank you, Hard work and patients paying off . I could see myself buying a tiger for the jaunts into France
As long as she pays for them I havent got a problem and usually when she spends she normally treats me to a meal aswell
There are a few thing to try with the screen. After trying several positions, if you still get excessive wind noise and buffeting try placing a 15mm spacer between the screen and the frame its mounted to. It will cost £5 on eBay for 4 nylon spacers and 4 replacement screws which need to be 15mm longer. This worked a treat on my Explorer, I have no idea why, it it made a big difference.
It increases airflow on the underside of the screen which helps to reduce the turbulence coming off the top lip.
Thanks for the advice, and knowing her she prob would go that expensive! And like you said that would be one slap up meal!!
Are these spacers made specifically for the tiger or are we just talking about random spacers? Got any links?
No just spacers big enough for the bolts. On my Explorer there are 4 X M5 bolts. So this is what I bought. To be honest I've found that all these 'Adventure style' bikes are the same - I've personally owned, 1100GS/1150GS; KTM1190Adventure; I've ridden the Yamaha Tracer. and they were all the same. I think truly speaking the problem is the screen is too upright and too far away from the rider. When riding these bikes I found if you moved forward turbulence was reduced but having tried various after-market screens my best solution on all of them was to remove the screen completely. Yes there was a greater weight of wind on my chest but they were almost totally quiet; no noisy turbulence any more.
I've also added an MRA Xcreen to mine. Together with the screen spacers it has all but cured the buffeting problem.
That's really quite strange, you would of thought they would manufacture these 'adventure bikes' so there was not wind contamination for the rider
I've ridden Tigers on a couple of occasions and the wind noise has always been pretty bad. I "borrowed" the wife's BMW the other week and it's got the tall screen,it gave me a headache and my ears hurt.I'd have thought it would be more efficient being German. Screens seem to be a hot topic on most forums.
