Any one been here. Wycombe Rd, High Wycombe HP14 3XB Chris's Café-Motel. Went there today and had a vegetarian style lunch my Pal had full English. What a feast and it was top notch. Joe
It was a nice little diner i though and the staff were so friendly. I just though when i was there it would be a terrific bike meet up place. Joe.
Chaps this sounds great to me. We can meet and put a face to the user names. And don't worry i won't be on the triumph either to much salt to Dare. But a bike is a bike. I will try to get it rolling. What are the feeling around as most times i go during the week so give me you thoughts and i will try to set it up and give everyone as much notice as poss. We could possibly start there and head on somewhere like the hellfire caves again give me your thoughts. Joe
That place is in Studley Green, not High Wycombe, and has a long history as a truck stop. It still is one and you'll often find the parking area chock full of artics. I watched a great YouTube vid a while back about trucking in the 60s (I think) and it was featured in it. It's so close to home I've never actually stopped there. The Hell Fire Caves are a bit cheesy but again the history is interesting. The local altruistic land owner paid out of work men to dig out chalk to improve the road to Oxford (now the A40) so forming the caves. Which gave some debauched MPs and their aristo friends somewhere to "entertain" ladies of ill repute and have lavish parties. St Lawrence's church above the caves is worth a visit as it has a very unusual ornamental golden ball on top of the tower. Folk used to sit in it but alas it's not considered safe to do so now. Great views down the A40 towards HW from the top of the tower as well as the Dashwood Mausoleum next to the church.
Sir Trev Yes i just took the address of the web page. And am open to suggestions. Could always head for the Cotswolds. Or suggest somewhere and it can be done. Joe
I've done the Hellfire caves, quite interesting. If we were out that way there is always the H cafe, think that's what it is called, this side of Oxford. It's a biker cafe, can get quite a few bikes there on a weekend.
Stayed near the Hellfire caves once in West Wycombe. No time for a visit of course, I was working. Nice old coaching inn without a level floor in the place! I get around that way a fair bit, might be able to bump the numbers if you arrange a meet. No Triumph though, most likely a VW Passat!
Would be a good mid week evening venue come spring/summer which seems to be lacking in this area now... I'll do my best to come and can likley drag a handful of other people with me too...
Here we are of now. Looks like we will head towards the H Café Oxford Road, Dorchester-on-Thames OX10 7LY right beside infinity. I am trying to be there Monday to meet a friend. Then we are or he is planning something in the Cotswolds. As before it is just a meet and hello if you fancy come on what you got two or four wheels and if not up for a run then that's fine we can say hello and go our own ways. I as i say will be riding a cb500 black honda and my speeds will be easy and leisurely as i don't race any more also scrubbing in a new set of tyres. Joe
I would love to make that meet @joe mc donald . unfortunately it is 3 hours from me, so maybe next time.
@Wessa. For sure it is a bit out if the weather changes on you. But for sure we will try and have a ride out soon closer to your location. Yes you are one member i would like to meet. Joe.
Octoberon Sure thing and like i said we will get out closer to you to try and make a meet possible. We are actually going that way May time for a week and i will keep you in the know as you are another star member. Joe.
